2024–25 DEL Season
The 2024–25 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 31st season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. It started on 19 September 2024. Eisbären Berlin were the defending champions and captured the title again with a win over the Kölner Haie. The Augsburger Panther were originally relegated last year, but kept their place since the winning team from the second division did not apply for a license. Format The teams played a double round-robin for 52 games each. After the regular season, places one to six were qualified for the playoffs while place seven to ten played in the pre-playoffs. The playoffs were played in a best of seven mode. The last team from the regular season was relegated to DEL2. Deutsche Eishockey Liga
The Deutsche Eishockey Liga (for sponsorship reasons called Penny (supermarket), PENNY Deutsche Eishockey Liga) (; English: ''German Ice Hockey League'') or DEL, is a professional ice hockey league in Germany and the highest division in German ice hockey. Founded in 1994, it was formed as a replacement for the Eishockey-Bundesliga and became the new top-tier league in Germany as a result. Unlike the old Bundesliga, the DEL is not under the administration of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund, German Ice Hockey Federation. Teams from the DEL participate in the International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Nürnberg Ice Tigers
The Nürnberg Ice Tigers are a professional ice hockey club located in Nuremberg, Germany. They play in the country's premier league, the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. History The roots of the team can be traced back to SG Nürnberg, an ice hockey club that played in the 2nd Bundesliga (ice hockey), 2nd Bundesliga from 1958 until it was closed down in 1980 due to financial issues. Today's team was founded in 1980 as EHC Nürnberg 1980 e.V., as a non-profit organization. Play started in 1980–81 in the Bavarian state ice-hockey league (). Eissporthalle Frankfurt
Eissporthalle Frankfurt or Eissporthalle am Ratsweg is an arena in the Bornheim district of Frankfurt, Germany. It is used for ice hockey and is the home arena of Löwen Frankfurt. It is also used as an ice skating rink. It has opened on 19 December 1981 and holds 6,946 people. History The first skating rink in Frankfurt opened during a patent exhibition in 1882 in the Palmengarten. It covered 520 m2 and operated for two months; the refrigeration system was designed by Linde,Linde AG: "75 Jahre Linde", 1954, S. 52 and it was probably the first skating rink where Ammonia was used as a refrigerant. PSD Bank Dome
PSD Bank Dome, originally branded ''ISS Dome'', is a multi-use indoor arena in Düsseldorf, Germany. The arena, which opened in 2006, has a maximum capacity of 15,151 and mainly hosts sports events and concerts. Usage The venue is used mostly for ice hockey matches, as well as concerts. Its home team is the Düsseldorfer EG. Bremerhaven (; ) is a city on the east bank of the Weser estuary in northern Germany. It forms an exclave of the Bremen (state), city-state of Bremen. The Curt Frenzel Stadium (Curt-Frenzel-Stadion) is an arena in Augsburg, Germany.
