2024 UK Open
The 2024 UK Open, known as the 2024 Ladbrokes UK Open for sponsorship reasons, was a professional darts tournament that was held from 1–3 March 2024 Butlin's in Minehead, England. It was the twenty-second UK Open to be staged by the Professional Darts Corporation. The tournament featured 158 participants which comprised PDC Tour Card holders, PDC Challenge/Development Tour players and amateur qualifiers. Andrew Gilding was the defending champion after defeating Michael van Gerwen 11–10 in the 2023 final to win his first major title, but he lost 10–1 to Peter Wright in the fifth round. Dimitri Van den Bergh beat Luke Humphries 11–10 to win the UK Open for the first time in his career. Prize money The prize fund was unchanged at £600,000. Format The 158 participants entered the competition incrementally, with 62 players entering in the first round. Butlin's Minehead
Butlins Resort Minehead is a holiday camp operated by Butlins, located in Minehead in Somerset, England. It opened in 1962 and remains in use today. It was known as Butlin's Minehead until 1987, and as Somerwest World from then until 1999, when it reopened as Butlins Minehead Resort. History In the winter of 1961, Billy Butlin began work on creating a holiday camp in Minehead. The site was selected because of its flatness, good rail links, and proximity to the town and sea. The site was not without its problems, however, including flooding. In order to solve this, a trench was excavated around the site and an earth wall constructed. The trench later became the site's boating pond. The site opened to the public on 26 May 1962, the construction having cost £2 million. Adam Hunt (born 21 August 1993) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events.
