2024 Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Election
The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council election was held on 8 January 2024. The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, earlier called North Cachar Hills District Council is an autonomous district in the Indian state of Assam. Background A total of 1,41,124 voters, including 70,485 men and 70,639 women will be exercising their franchise in over 280 polling stations in the autonomous region. About 100 of these poling stations is marked as sensitive and 27 of them as very sensitive. Six candidates of the BJP have won uncontested. The day of polling i.e. 8 January was declared as a public holiday for Dima Hasao Council. Dima Hasao Autonomous Council
The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), also known as the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, is an autonomous district council in the state of Assam in India. It was constituted under the provisions of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India to administer the Dima Hasao district and to develop the hill people in the area. Its headquarters is in Haflong, Dima Hasao district. The council has 30 members of whom 28 are elected by the first past the post system and 2 are nominated by the state government of Assam. It is led by a Chief Executive Member, currently Debolal Gorlosa. Asom Gana Parishad
Asom Gana Parishad (translation: ''Assam People's Council'', AGP) is a political party in the state of Assam, India. The AGP was formed following the historic Assam Accord of 1985 and formally launched at the Golaghat Convention held from 13 to 14 October 1985 in Golaghat, which also allowed Prafulla Kumar Mahanta who was the youngest chief minister of the state to be elected. The AGP has formed government twice once in 1985 then again in 1996. The popularity of AGP surged in the late 1980s but declined in the 2000s. Dima Hasao district (), is an administrative district in the state of Assam, India. As of 2011, it is the least populous district of Assam. Dima Hasao district is one of two autonomous hill districts of Assam. The district headquarters Haflong is the only hill station in the state. Etymology "Dima Hasao" means "Dimasa Hills" in the Dimasa language. History Dimasa kingdom From , Dima Hasao was part of the Dimasa Kingdom (or Kachar kingdom), with its capital at Maibang and Dimapur. 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council Election
The 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council election was held between 7 and 10 December 2020 to elect members to the Bodoland Territorial Council, the autonomous district council for the Bodoland Territorial Region in India. All 40 elected seats in the council were up for election. Background On the previous council, the BPF and BJP were in an asymmetrical alliance, with the BPF as the major partner.
