The 2024 Birmingham Classic (also known as the Rothesay Classic Birmingham for sponsorship reasons) was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the 42nd edition of the event, and a WTA 250 tournament on the 2024 WTA Tour. It took place at the Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 17–23 June 2024. WTA 250 Tournaments
WTA 250 is a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association tour, implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. Earlier these events were classified as WTA International tournaments, WTA International Tournaments. At their introduction in 2021, WTA 250 tournaments' prize money was approximately $250,000. As of 2025 WTA Tour, 2025 season, this has risen to $275,094. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 250. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam tournament ("Major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, 1000 points for winning a WTA 1000 tournament, and 500 for winning a WTA 500 tournament. Katie Boulter
Katie Charlotte Boulter (born 1 August 1996) is an English professional tennis player. On 4 November 2024, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 23. On 6 January 2025, she peaked at No. 277 in the WTA doubles rankings. Boulter has won three singles titles on the WTA Tour as well as seven singles titles and four doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. She is the former British No. 1 in women's singles. Daria Saville (née Gavrilova; born 5 March 1994) is a Russian-born Australian professional tennis player. She competed under her maiden name until her marriage to Luke Saville in 2021. Amelia Rajecki (born 3 June 2002) is a British professional tennis player. She previously played US collegiate tennis for North Carolina State. Early life Rajecki was raised in Nottingham. She won the British Tour Masters in 2022. College career Rajecki began playing for the Wolfpack at North Carolina State University in 2020–21. In her junior year in 2022–23, she set the program record of singles wins in a season with 40 wins and 11 losses. A wild card (also wildcard or wild-card and also known as an at-large berth or at-large bid) is an invitation to a tournament or a playoff berth awarded to a team or individual that does not qualify via an automatic bid.
