The 2023–24 BNXT League was the third season of the BNXT League, the highest professional basketball league in Belgium and the Netherlands. BNXT League
The BNXT League is a professional basketball league in Belgium and the Netherlands. The league is the first tier in both the Dutch and Belgian system, replacing the Dutch Basketball League, DBL and Pro Basketball League, PBL. The inaugural season was the 2021–22 BNXT League, 2021–22 season, which started in September 2021. History On 10 December 2020, it was announced that the Belgian Pro Basketball League and Dutch Basketball League would merge to form a new multinational league. All clubs from the Dutch DBL voted for, while 9 of 10 teams in Belgium voted in favor of the decision. Serious talks about the initiative had been ongoing since fall 2019. On 20 May 2021, the new name "BNXT League" and logo of the league were announced. Den Helder Suns
The Den Helder Suns are a professional basketball club based in Den Helder, Netherlands. The club was founded in 2016 and currently plays in the BNXT League. The team has played at the highest domestic level since years. The Suns play their home games in the Sporthal Sportlaan, which has a capacity of 1,000 people. History After the bankruptcy of the Netherlands' professional BV Den Helder team during the 2013–14 season, a professional basketball representative team from Den Helder was missing for three seasons. In 2016, the Suns organisation was founded with the goal of making a return to the Dutch Basketball League (DBL). Brussels Basketball
Brussels Basketball is a professional basketball club based in Neder-Over-Heembeek (Brussels), Belgium. The team plays in the BNXT League. Home games are played at the Sports Complex Neder-Over-Heembeek. History The club was founded in 1957. In 1999 Excelsior merged with AERA Castor and renamed itself AERA Excelsior Brussel VZW. After 7 years in the 3e Nationale, the Belgian third division, Excelsior promoted to the 2e Nationale in 2009. In the first two years, Excelsior finished 4th and 5th and was defeated in the quarterfinals. In the 2011–12 season Excelsior reached the semifinals and in the 2012–13 season, it finished 10th while missing the Playoffs. Limburg United, for sponsorship reasons named Hubo Limburg United, is a professional basketball club based in Hasselt, Limburg, Belgium. Founded in 2014, the club plays in the BNXT League, the first tier of basketball in Belgium. The team plays its home games in Sporthal Alverberg. Limburg has won one trophy, the Belgian Cup in 2022. History Around the beginning of 2014 Limburg United was founded in the city of Hasselt. The name expressing the founders' motivation for there to be a top tier basketball team from Limburg province in the aftermath of Bree B.B.C. relegating from BLB Division I in 2008 and eventually disbanding. Belfius Mons-Hainaut
Union Mons-Hainaut is a Belgian professional basketball club that is based in Mons, Wallonia. The club competes in the highest division of the country, the BNXT League. The club's home arena is the Mons Arena. Founded as Quaregnon in 1959, the club has been a regular in the Belgian first division as the club plays in the highest tier for years, since the 1990–91 season. Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen
Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen, also known as Kangoeroes or Kangoeroes Mechelen, is a basketball club based in Mechelen, Belgium. Founded in 2009, the club plays in the BNXT League. Kangoeroes have been playing in the top tier division in Belgium for years, since 2013. Previously, the team played in Boom and Willebroek. In 2018, the club moved to Mechelen. History The club was founded in 2009, as a result of a merger between BBC Kangoeroes Willebroek and Boom BBC. The team name was BBC Kangoeroes Boom, but in summer 2013 the team was renamed Kangoeroes Basket Willebroek. In the 2013–14 season, Kangoeroes entered the professional first tier Ethias League. Okapi Aalst is a Belgian professional basketball club from Aalst, Belgium. The club competes in the top tier BNXT League and plays its home games in the Okapi Forum, which has a seating capacity of 2,800 people.
