The 2023 Tennessee Lady Volunteers softball team is an American softball team, representing the University of Tennessee during the 2023 Southeastern Conference softball season and the 2023 NCAA Division I softball season. The team plays their home games at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, and is coached by Karen Weekly Karen Weekly is an American softball coach who is the current head coach at Tennessee. Karen Weekly is an American softball coach who is the current head coach at Tennessee. Weekly has previously been the co-head softball coach at Chattanooga from 1997–2001. She served as an assistant at both Chattanooga (1995–1996) and Pacific Lutheran (1987–1994). Kate Malveaux (née Singler) is an American softball coach who, along with her husband, Chris, are the co-head coach at Auburn. Playing career Singler played college softball at Bradley University. During the 2010 season, in her junior year, she led the team in doubles (6), home runs (4), RBI (25), hit by pitch (7), and slugging percentage (.410). She started 35 games at catcher and six at designated player. During the 2011 season, in her senior year, she had a .283 batting average, with 24 runs, eight home runs, 14 walks, and led the team with 29 RBI. Chris Malveaux is an American softball coach who, along with his wife Kate, are the co-head coach at Auburn. He previously served as the head coach at McNeese State. Coaching career McNeese State Malveaux began his coaching career at McNeese State, where he served as an assistant head coach from 2002 to 2004. He was promoted to head coach in 2005. During his first year as head coach he led the Cowgirls to the 2005 Southland Conference Tournament Championship and an NCAA Regional appearance. An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered.
