2023 Polish Basketball Cup
The 2023 Suzuki Polish Basketball Cup ( pl, Puchar Polski 2023) was the 59th edition of Poland's national cup competition for men basketball teams. It is managed by the Polish Basketball League (PLK) and was held in Lublin, in the ''Globus''. Qualified teams The eight participants qualified for the tournament after the first half of the 2022–23 PLK season. The highest-placed three teams joined Start Lublin and would play against the four low-seeded teams in the quarter-finals. As host of the tournament, Start Lublin gained automatic qualification. Draw The draw was held on 8 July 2022 in Lublin at Lublin Conference Center. Legia Warsaw (basketball)
Legia Warszawa Sekcja Koszykówki (in English: Legia Warsaw Basketball Section) is a Polish men's basketball club, based in Warsaw. The team currently plays in the PLK, the Polish first division. The club was established in 1929 as the basketball section of the military multi-sport club of Legia Warsaw. Legia became the leading team in Polish basketball in the 1950s and 1960s with seven national championships and two national cups. History The basketball section of Legia Warsaw was founded in 1929. The first game of the team was on December 8, 1929, when the team won 31–5 over Jutrznia. The team was re-activated in 1947, after absence during World War II, by students from the Stefana Batorego. The team won the national high school championship, and after several more promotions, it returned to the highest-level league in 1951. Nemanja Đurišić (born February 23, 1992) is a Montenegrin professional basketball player for Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). Đurišić is also currently a member of Montenegrin national basketball team and during his college years he played for the basketball team at University of Georgia in the United States. Kyle Vinales (born June 18, 1992) () is an American basketball player for Legia Warszawa of the Polish Basketball League. He previously competed for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils men's basketball team. He announced that he would not transfer following the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season despite the high possibility due to CCSU's lack of success in basketball. Ajdin Penava (born March 11, 1997) is a Bosnian basketball player for Spójnia Stargard of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played college basketball for Marshall University in the Conference USA (C-USA). He led NCAA Division I in blocks per game (3.94) in 2017–18. Early life Penava attended Peta Gimnazija in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. College career Penava was a reserve player during his first two seasons with the Herd.
