2022 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 World Figure Skating Championships were held from March 21–27, 2022, at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier, France. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and hosted this year by Skate Canada, the World Championships are considered the most prestigious event in figure skating, second only to the Olympics. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The competition determined the entry quotas for each skating federation at the 2023 World Championships. The International Skating Union organizes six annual Championships for figure skating. It is at the discretion of each member country which skaters, pairs or synchronized skating teams are sent to which championship. Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Free Dance (ice Dance)
The free dance (FD) is a segment of an ice dance competition, the second contested. It follows the rhythm dance (RD). Skaters perform "a creative dance program blending dance steps and movements expressing the character/rhythm(s) of the dance music chosen by the couple".S&P/ID 2024, p. 148 Its duration is four minutes for senior ice dancers, and 3.5 minutes for juniors. Rhythm Dance
The rhythm dance (RD) is the first segment of an ice dance competition.
