2022 Skate America
The 2022 Skate America was the first event in the 2022–23 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Tenley E. Albright Performance Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on October 21–23. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. The 2022–23 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is a series of invitational senior internationals that is held from October 2022 through December 2022. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Skaters earn points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the Grand Prix Final in Turin, Italy. Loucas Éthier
Loucas Éthier (born June 3, 2000) is a Canadian pair skater. With his skating partner, Kelly Ann Laurin, he is the 2022 Skate America bronze medallist. Personal life Loucas Éthier was born on June 3, 2000. His mother, Sonia Gougeon, is an ice skating coach. He has also worked as a skating coach and completed a firefighting course. The 2022–23 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and ISU Junior Grand Prix Final was held from December 8–11, 2022 at the Torino Palavela in Turin, Italy. The combined event was the culmination of two international series — the Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the Junior Grand Prix. Ice Dance
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man.
