2020 NBA All Star Game
The 2020 NBA All-Star Game was an exhibition basketball game that was played on February 16, 2020, during the National Basketball Association's (NBA) 2019–20 season. It was the 69th edition of the NBA All-Star Game, and was played at the United Center in Chicago, home of the Chicago Bulls. Team LeBron defeated Team Giannis, 157–155. This was the third time that Chicago hosted the All-Star Game. The other two times, in 1973 and 1988, the game was played at Chicago Stadium, the Bulls' previous home arena. The game was televised nationally by TNT for the 18th consecutive year, and simulcast by TBS for the 6th consecutive year. After airing a “Players Only” broadcast a year ago, TBS returned to simulcasting TNT's coverage, after the “Players Only” brand was canceled by the NBA and Turner Sports. United Center
The United Center is an indoor arena on the Near West Side, Chicago, Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is home to the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). It is named for its corporate sponsor United Airlines. With a capacity of nearly 21,000, the United Center is the List of National Basketball Association arenas, largest arena by capacity in the NBA, and List of National Hockey League arenas, second largest arena by capacity in the NHL. It also has a seating capacity of 23,500 for concerts. Opened in 1994, the United Center replaced the West Side's Chicago Stadium ("the madhouse on Madison"), which was opened in 1929 and located across the street from the center. Kevin Harlan
Kevin Robert Harlan (born June 21, 1960) is an American television and radio sports announcer, and a 3 time National Sportscaster of Year as voted by his peers. The son of former Green Bay Packers President and CEO Bob Harlan, he broadcasts NFL and college basketball games on CBS and the NBA on TNT. 2024 was his 40th consecutive season doing NFL play-by-play, and 2024–25 is his 38th year doing NBA play-by-play. He is also the lead NFL radio voice nationally for Westwood One and '' Monday Night Football'' since 2009. On that platform, he has broadcast 15 consecutive Super Bowls, the most in radio or television history. Overall, he is third all time in the total number of network television sports broadcasts doing play-by-play for one of the four major sports. 2019–20 NBA Season
The 2019–20 NBA season was the 74th season of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The regular season began on October 22, 2019, and originally was supposed to end on April 15, 2020. The 2020 NBA All-Star Game was played on February 16, at the United Center in Chicago, and was won by Team LeBron, 157–155. The playoffs were originally scheduled to begin on April 18, and end with the NBA Finals in June. On January 26, the season took an abrupt delicate turn when Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who was less than four years into retirement from the league, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others. A number of tributes and memorials were issued, and the All-Star MVP Award was renamed in Bryant's honor. The season was suspended on March 11 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
