2020 IMSA Prototype Challenge
The 2020 IMSA Prototype Challenge is the fifteenth season of the IMSA Lites series and its successors and the fourth season as the IMSA Prototype Challenge. The opening race of the season was on January 4 at the Daytona International Speedway and the season concludes on October 9 at Road Atlanta. The championship will be contested solely by LMP3 class prototypes. Calendar Race schedule The 2020 schedule was released August 2, 2019. A revised calendar was released May 15, 2020, due to changes made because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2020 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
The 2020 IMSA SportsCar Championship was the 50th racing season sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) (which traces its lineage back to the 1971 IMSA GT Championship). This was also the seventh United SportsCar Championship season and fifth under the name as the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The series began on January 25 with the 24 Hours of Daytona, and ended on November 14 with the 12 Hours of Sebring. Braselton ( ) is a town in Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall, and Jackson counties in the U.S. state of Georgia, approximately northeast of Atlanta. Anthony Lazzaro (racing Driver)
Anthony Lazzaro (born August 26, 1963) is a NASCAR and sports car racing driver. He is usually classified as a NASCAR road course ringer; however, he has made other starts in the Nextel Cup Series. He also has open-wheel oval racing experience. Racing career Lazzaro started in karting, winning numerous World Karting Association championships between 1987 and 1992. Wayne Boyd (born 25 October 1990) is a British racing driver from County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Boyd won the British Formula Ford Championship in 2008 with Jamun Racing. He won 13 out of 25 championship races. Sat on the pole for 15 races and was on the podium 20 times out of 25 races. In the same year he won the Formula Ford Festival Duratec class. His dominate performance earned him named as one of British Racing Driver Club Superstars and nominated for the BRDC McLaren Autosport Award. As a gentleman driver, Thomas has competed in endurance events such as the FIA World Endurance Championship, WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, IMSA Prototype Challenge and Michelin Le Mans Cup. Stevan Gordon McAleer (born 28 August 1984) is a British racing driver who competes for Team Korthoff Motorsports in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Career Early Career McAleer was introduced to motorsports at the age of 10, visiting a karting track in his hometown of Glasgow with friends. At age 11, he was gifted a go-kart by his father, before beginning to race karts competitively the following year. However, a move to car racing was postponed due to a lack of funding. After winning the Scottish Karting Championship four times, he moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue additional racing opportunities. The Norma M30 is an LMP3-spec sports prototype. The car is built by French constructor Norma Auto Concept and designed by company co-founder Norbert Santos. The Norma M30 won the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup in its debut year entered by DKR Engineering. History Development The LMP3 class was launched by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) in 2015. Five constructors were selected by the ACO to build chassis for the class. Besides Norma, ADESS, Ginetta, Ligier and Riley were selected. Ligier, ADESS and Ginetta launched their cars during the late 2015 and 2016 seasons. Norma launched their LMP3 prototype in February 2017. Nissan was appointed as the sole engine provider. Stephen Simpson (born 8 January 1984) is a South African- American professional racing driver currently competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and previously in the A1 Grand Prix, Champ Car Atlantic Championship and the Indy Pro Series, among others. Biography Simpson was born on 8 January 1984 in Poole, Dorset, England and he moved to South Africa with his family when he was 10 months old.
