2019 Toyota Racing Series
The 2019 Castrol Toyota Racing Series was the fifteenth running of the Toyota Racing Series, the premier open-wheel motorsport category held in New Zealand. The series consisted of fifteen races at five meetings. It began on 10 January at Highlands Motorsport Park, in Cromwell, and concluded on 10 February with the 64th running of the New Zealand Grand Prix, at Circuit Chris Amon in Feilding. The championship, as well as the 2019 New Zealand Grand Prix was won by rookie Liam Lawson; who became the first New Zealander to win the championship since Nick Cassidy in 2013. Champion Liam Lawson and runner-up Marcus Armstrong both took five wins apiece, whilst Cameron Das, FIA Formula 3 European Championship driver Lucas Auer, Esteban Muth, Brendon Leitch and Artem Petrov all had one race win each. Toyota Racing Series
The Formula Regional Oceania Championship is New Zealand's premier formula racing category. The series includes races for every major trophy in New Zealand circuit racing including the New Zealand Motor Cup and the Denny Hulme Memorial Trophy. The cars are also the category for the New Zealand Grand Prix – one of only two races in the world with FIA approval to use the ''Grand Prix'' nomenclature outside Formula One. Artem Sergeevich Petrov ( rus, Артём Сергеевич Петро́в, p=ɐrˈtɵm pʲɪˈtrof, born 14 January 2000) is a Russian racing driver who most recently competed in the 2021 Indy Pro 2000 Championship for Exclusive Autosport. Esteban Muth (born 30 October 2001) is a Belgian-German racing driver who currently drives for Walkenhorst Motorsport in Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. Career Muth made his motorsport debut in karting in 2010 and mainly competed in championships in Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2012, he won the Mini Parilla class of the Belgian Championship. In 2015, he started competing in international championships with a twelfth place in the KFJ class of the German ADAC Kart Masters. M2 Competition are a motorsport team based in New Zealand and Belgium. History Founded in 2010, M2 Competition began partaking in the New Zealand-based single-seater championship the Castrol Toyota Racing Series in 2010, with Ivan Lukashevich taking the team's first win at Manfield. The following year, the team achieved their second victory and first pole position from Jordan King at Taupo. Ken Smith (racing Driver)
Kenneth James Smith (born 11 August 1941) is a New Zealand motor racing driver, who won the New Zealand Grand Prix in 1976, 1990, and 2004. Smith first competed in motor racing in 1958, winning the New Zealand Hill Climb championship when he was 16. He progressed to single seater racing in 1962, first driving a Lola March T, Formula Junior car. Later he raced in Formula Ford, Formula 5000, Formula Pacific, Formula Mondial, and Toyota Racing Series among others Smith won the Gold Star Drivers Award in the 1975–1976, 1983–1984, 1984–1985, 1986–1987 and 1989–1990 seasons. In 2011 Smith won the Formula 5000 Revival championship for the third time. Dev Gore (born 31 July 1997 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is an American professional racing driver competing in international motorsport. Background Gore started his racing career at the age of 18 years old. After an initial taste of karting in 2015, he entered the Florida Winter Tour and the Rotax Grand Nationals in the DD2 category. In 2016, he moved into US DD2 National and US Open DD2 and was crowned champion. Gore raced for Team USA at the Rotax Grand Finals. He is a graduate of Bertil Roos Racing School.
