2019 San Francisco Shock Season
The 2019 San Francisco Shock season was the second season of the San Francisco Shock's existence in the Overwatch League and their first full season under head coach Park Dae-hee. The team looked to improve from their 17–23 record from 2018 and qualify for their first stage or season playoffs. The Shock's first match of the 2019 regular season resulted in a 4–0 sweep over the Dallas Fuel. The team followed the win by splitting the next six matches to finish Stage 1 with a 4–3 record and the sixth seed in the Stage 1 Playoffs. The team made it to the Stage 1 Finals, but they fell to the Vancouver Titans. San Francisco hit their stride in Stage 2, as the team completed the "perfect stage" with a 7–0 record and 28–0 map record. Qualified as the top seed in the Stage 2 Playoffs, the Shock defeated the Titans in the Stage 2 Finals. Andrew "Andy" D. Miller (born December 14, 1968) is an American businessman and technology/sports entrepreneur. He was formerly the Vice President for Mobile Advertising at Apple Inc. As of 2015, Miller is a co-owner of the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA), chairman and co-owner of NRG Esports, co-owner of the Modesto Nuts, high Single A minor league baseball affiliate of the Seattle Mariners of MLB, co-founder of Remix Media, Inc. and its app Spun, as well as co-founder of start-up vehicle StartingFive. The New York Excelsior (often stylized as NYXL) is an American professional ''Overwatch'' esports team based in New York City, New York. The Excelsior compete in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the league's West region. Founded in 2017, the team is one of twelve founding members of the Overwatch League and is the first professional esports team to represent the city of New York. Washington Justice is an American professional ''Overwatch'' esports team based in Washington, D.C. The Justice compete in the Overwatch League (OWL) as member of the league's West region. Founded in 2018, Washington Justice began play as one of eight expansion teams in 2019. Jay Won (born March 18, 2000), better known as Sinatraa, is an American professional ''Valorant'' player. Boston Uprising is an American professional ''Overwatch'' esports team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The team competes in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the league's West region. Kwon "Striker" Nam-joo
Kwon Nam-joo (), better known by his online alias Striker, is a South Korean professional ''Overwatch'' player, best known for his play on the hero Tracer. He began his ''Overwatch'' career playing for South Korean team ROX Orcas in Overwatch Apex. Kwon signed with the Boston Uprising ahead of the Overwatch League (OWL) inaugural season. After one season with the Uprising, Kwon was traded to the San Francisco Shock.
