2016 Sheffield City Council Election
Sheffield City Council elections took place on Thursday 5 May 2016, alongside nationwide local elections. All 84 seats were up for election, 3 per ward, after several electoral boundaries were changed. Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party contested all 84 seats. The Conservatives fielded 55 candidates, UKIP 43, TUSC 23 and Yorkshire First 1. There was also 1 independent candidate. Voters in the Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough Parliamentary constituency also elected Gill Furniss MP, in a by-election triggered by the death of her husband Harry Harpham MP. 2019 Sheffield City Council Election
Elections to Sheffield City Council were held on Thursday 2 May 2019; one of a number of local council elections taking place across England and Northern Ireland on the same day. One of each ward's three seats was up for election, having last been contested in the 2016 elections. Election results Labour, the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party fielded candidates in all 28 wards (including six candidates running under the Labour Co-operative label). UKIP fielded candidates in 22 wards. The Yorkshire Party contested six wards, Democrats and Veterans contested three and the Women's Equality Party contested two, with the National Front and the Socialist Party (under the Socialist Alternative label) each fielding one candidate. Sheffield City Council
Sheffield City Council is the city council for the metropolitan borough of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. It consists of 84 councillors, elected to represent 28 wards, each with three councillors. It is currently under No Overall Control, with Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party each holding chair positions in a proportionate number of committees, with Labour chairing four Committees, the Liberal Democrats chairing three and the Greens chairing two. 2018 United Kingdom Local Elections
Council elections in England were held on Thursday 3 May 2018. Elections were held in all 32 London boroughs, 34 metropolitan boroughs, 67 district and borough councils and 17 unitary authorities. There were also direct elections for the mayoralties of Hackney, Lewisham, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Watford. With the exception of those areas that have had boundary changes, the seats up for election were last contested in the 2014 local elections. Shaffaq Mohammed (born 21 July 1972) is a British politician who served as a Liberal Democrats Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Yorkshire and the Humber from 2019 to 2020. Early life Shaffaq Mohammed was born in Pakistani administered Kashmir. In April of 1977 he moved to Sheffield and studied at Park House school and later on in life graduated from the University of Sheffield. Political career Sheffield City Council Between 2004 and 2014 Mohammed served as the Liberal Democrat councillor for Broomhill Ward. He contested Crookes Ward in 2014 and was defeated. He returned as a councillor for Ecclesall Ward in 2016 and was re-elected in 2018. Mohammed was elected as leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Sheffield City Council in May 2011. Sheffield City Council elections usually take place by thirds, three years out of every four. Sheffield City Council is the local authority for the metropolitan borough of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England.
