The 2018 Monterrey Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the ninth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2018 ATP Challenger Tour. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a type of surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. The ball tends to bounce high and players are able to apply many types of spin during play. Gerald Melzer
Gerald Melzer (born 13 July 1990) is an Austrian professional inactive tennis player who competed mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 68 in November 2016. Gerald is also part of Austrian Davis Cup team, for which he recorded four singles wins and six losses. Career Gerald Melzer has primarily spent his time on the Futures circuit, while also playing Challengers and several doubles events with his brother. He began playing on the tour in 2007, competing in tournaments in Austria as well as Futures tournaments in Africa. Leander Adrian Paes ( ; born 17 June 1973) is an Indian former professional tennis player and the first Asian man to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Sekou Bangoura Jr. (born November 18, 1991) is an American professional tennis player. Bangoura partnered with Nathan Pasha to win the 2010 Kalamazoo Boys' Junior National Tennis Championship, defeating Jack Sock and Matthew Kandath 7–5, 6–3 in the finals.
