2018 FIA GT World Cup
The 2018 FIA GT World Cup (formally the SJM Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup) was a Grand Touring (GT) sports car race held on the Guia Circuit in the Chinese Special Administrative Region of Macau on 18 November. It was the event's fourth annual edition eleventh GT3 car race in Macau. Only platinum and gold drivers were allowed to compete, but silver drivers were eligible on a case by case basis at the FIA GT World Cup Committee's discretion. The Stéphane Ratel Organisation, in collaboration with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), promoted the race. The event was made up of two races: a 12-lap qualifying race to set the 18-lap main race's starting grid. Augusto Farfus of BMW Team Schnitzer won the main race from pole position in a BMW M6 GT3. In a motorsports race, the pole position is usually the best and "statistically the most advantageous" starting position on the track. The pole position is usually earned by the driver with the best qualifying times in the trials before the race. The number-one qualifying driver is also referred to as the pole-sitter. ADAC GT Masters
The ADAC GT Masters is a grand tourer-based auto racing series founded by the international Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) and supported by the German ADAC automotive club. Similar to an earlier ADAC GT Cup series in the 1990s, the new GT Masters ran their first season in 2007. Although the series is based in Germany, select events are run elsewhere in Europe. The Bentley Continental GT is a grand tourer manufactured and marketed by British automaker Bentley Motors since 2003. It was the first car released by Bentley under Volkswagen AG management, after the company's acquisition in 1998, and the first Bentley to employ mass production manufacturing techniques. A grand tourer (GT) is a type of car that is designed for high speed and long-distance driving, due to a combination of performance and luxury attributes. The most common format is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement. Grand tourers are most often the coupé derivative of luxury saloons or sedans.
