2017–18 Danish Superliga
The 2017–18 Danish Superliga season was the 28th season of the Denmark, Danish Danish Superliga, Superliga, which decides the Danish football championship. F.C. Teams Esbjerg fB finished as loser in the relegation play-offs in the 2016–17 Danish Superliga, 2016–17 season and was relegated to the 2017–18 Danish 1st Division, 2017–18 1st Division along with Viborg FF who lost their relegation play-off as well. The relegated teams were replaced by 2016–17 Danish 1st Division, 2016–17 1st Division champions Hobro IK (returned after one year of absence) and 3rd-place finisher FC Helsingør (returned to the top division for the first time since the 1936–37 Danish Championship League, 1936–37 season), who defeated Viborg FF in the two legged play-off finals. Football Club Midtjylland (, "Central Jutland") is a Danish professional football club based in Herning and Ikast. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Midtjylland competes in the Danish Superliga, which they have won four times, most recently in 2024. Midtjylland is known as one of the best football clubs in the western part of Jutland. Having had international stars playing for the club, such as Mohamed Zidan and Alexander Sørloth. Midtjylland also has the oldest and one of the best and most respected football academies in Scandinavia. SønderjyskE is a Danish sport corporation. They have a football team ( SønderjyskE Fodbold, based in Haderslev), two handball teams (SønderjyskE Håndbold, one male based in Sønderborg, one female based in Aabenraa) and an ice hockey team ( SønderjyskE Ishockey, based in Vojens). All the teams play in Southern Jutland. The name is short for Sønderjysk Elitesport (English language: ''Southern Jutlandic Elite Sport''). SønderjyskE was created as a club for the whole region of South Jutland as it was obvious that it was impossible to create elite teams able to compete in the top leagues on the former basis of city teams. Odense Boldklub (; also known as Odense BK or the more commonly used OB) is a Danish professional football club based in the city of Odense, in southern Denmark. Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ) is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark.
