2017 WRC3 Championship
The 2017 FIA WRC3 Championship was the fifth season of WRC3, a rallying championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, running in support of the World Rally Championship. It was created when the Group R class of rally car was introduced in 2013 World Rally Championship season, 2013. Drivers and teams had to nominate a maximum of seven events, the best six results counted towards the championship. Simone Tempestini did not return to defend the 2016 WRC3 Championship, 2016 title as he competed in the 2017 WRC2 Championship. Nil Solans won the title with a Ford Fiesta R2, Ford Fiesta R2T. WRC3
The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, FIA WRC3 is a support championship of the World Rally Championship. The calendar consists of the same rallies and stages as the parent series and crews usually compete immediately after World Rally Championship-2, WRC2 entrants. Entry into WRC3 is limited to cars that are based on production models and Homologation (motorsport), homologated under Group Rally3 rules, although prior to 2022 Group Rally2 cars were used. There are championship titles awarded to drivers and co-drivers.
