2017 Intercontinental GT Challenge
The 2017 Intercontinental GT Challenge was the second season of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The season featured three rounds, starting with the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour on 5 February and concluding with the Mazda Raceway California 8 Hours on 15 October, after the SRO Motorsports Group chose to cancel the Sepang 12 Hours scheduled for 10 December, due to a lack of entries. Laurens Vanthoor was the defending drivers' champion and Audi was the defending manufacturers' champion. In contrast to the inaugural season, manufacturers no longer needed to enter their cars separately. In 2017, as long as they held an international licence, all cars and drivers entered in the overall GT3 class, together with the manufacturers in the overall GT4 class were automatically eligible to score points towards the titles. Intercontinental GT Challenge
The Intercontinental GT Challenge is a sports car racing series developed by the SRO Group in 2016. It consists of international endurance races for grand tourer racing cars complying with the FIA's GT3 regulations. Format The series is aimed at manufacturers. Instead of fielding their own cars, manufacturers can appoint and support local teams in selected events to gain points. Four manufacturers took part in the inaugural series in 2016: Audi, Bentley, McLaren and Mercedes. The races may be stand-alone events, like the Suzuka 10 Hours, (which the event are organized by GT Association, Super GT race promoter) and the Bathurst 12 Hour (the event are organized by Supercars Events), or part of another championship (like the 24 Hours of Spa, Indianapolis 8 Hour and Kyalami 9 Hours) but they are all contested by cars complying with the same technical regulations. Peter Kox
Peter Kox (born 23 February 1964 in Eindhoven) is a racing driver from the Netherlands. Kox began racing in karts in 1978, winning five titles until 1982. In 1983 he moved to automobiles, winning the Marlboro Formula Ford Challenge and was second and third in the Benelux and Dutch Formula Ford 2000 Championships, respectively, the following year. His single-seater racing career was interrupted several times and only took off in 1989 when he won the Benelux Formula Opel Championship in 1989. In 1990 Kox raced in the British Formula 3 Championship where he came third with two victories. He moved up to Formula 3000 in 1991, staying there for two seasons and winning one race. Unable to find a seat in Formula One, Kox moved to touring cars driving a BMW, winning five races in the Dutch series in 1993 on his way to the championship title. Jules Gounon (born 31 December 1994 in Aubenas) is an Andorran-based French professional racing driver. He is best known for his victories in the 24 Hours of Spa in 2017 and 2022 and Bathurst 12 Hour in 2020 and 2022.
