The Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards, commonly shortened to the Ringo Awards, are prizes given for achievement in comic books. They are named in honor of artist Mike Wieringo and they were founded by the Reisterstown, Maryland–based Cards, Comics, & Collectibles shop alongside the Ringo Awards Committee in 2017, their ceremony meant to succeed the Harvey Awards which left the Baltimore Comic-Con as its venue in 2016. The Ringo Awards are nominated by an open vote among comic-book professionals and fans. Middelkerke
Middelkerke () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders, on the North Sea, west of Ostend. The municipality comprises the villages of Leffinge, Lombardsijde, Mannekensvere, Middelkerke proper, Schore, Sint-Pieters-Kapelle, Slijpe, Westende and Wilskerke. On January 1, 2006, Middelkerke had a total population of 17,841. The total area is 75.65 km2 which gives a population density of 236 inhabitants per km2. The first reference of 'Middelkerca' is found in 1218. Before 1876 it mainly was a farming settlement. In 1902, Middelkerke became the world's first municipality to have their drinking water disinfected by continuous chlorination. Ken Penders
Kenneth W. Penders, II (born September 28, 1958) is an American comics artist and writer. Penders is known for his work on the Archie Comics series ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' and its ''Knuckles the Echidna'' spin-off, which he contributed to from 1993 to 2006, and subsequent lawsuits involving them. After leaving Archie, Penders filed for copyright over works he created for the comics, amounting to hundreds of original characters and concepts. Archie sued Penders to retain the rights, but ultimately lost them, and in 2013 rebooted the ''Sonic'' comic to remove many comic-original characters. Penders attempted to sue Sega and EA Games in 2011, for alleged plagiarism of his "Dark Legion" concept in the 2008 video game '' Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood'', but was dismissed. The San Diego Convention Center is the primary convention center of San Diego, California, United States. It is located in the Marina district in downtown San Diego, near the Gaslamp Quarter. The center is managed by the San Diego Convention Center Corporation, a public-benefit nonprofit corporation created by the City of San Diego. History San Diego approved a measure to fund construction of a new convention center in 1983 on land owned by the Port of San Diego.
