2016 Rally Catalunya
The 2016 Rally Catalunya (formally the 52. RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada) was the eleventh round of the 2016 World Rally Championship. The race was held over four days between 13 October and 16 October 2016, and was based in Salou, Catalonia, Spain. Volkswagen's Sébastien Ogier won the race, his 37th win in the World Rally Championship, securing his fourth world champion title. 2016 World Rally Championship Season
The 2016 World Rally Championship was the 44th season of the World Rally Championship, an auto racing championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the highest class of international rallying. Teams and drivers competed in thirteen rounds—starting with the Rallye Monte Carlo in January and finishing with Rally Australia in November—for the World Rally Championships for Drivers and Manufacturers. Sébastien Ogier started the season as the defending drivers' champion. His team, Volkswagen Motorsport, were the defending manufacturers' champions. Mads Østberg
Mads Østberg (born 11 October 1987) is a Norwegian rally driver. His co-driver is Torstein Eriksen. Career Østberg competed in his first rally in 2004. His first World Rally Championship event was the 2006 Swedish Rally, in which he finished 31st in his Subaru Impreza WRC 2003. In the 2006 season, he competed in two more WRC rallies; retiring at the Rally Finland and finishing 23rd at the Wales Rally GB. In the 2007 season, Østberg continued with an Impreza WRC 2005 and competed in six world rallies for the Prodrive-supported Adapta team. He took his first stage win on a super special stage of the 2007 Swedish Rally, and later achieved his first WRC point by finishing eighth at the 2007 Rally Finland. Pontus Tidemand
Pontus Johan Tidemand (born 10 December 1990) is a Swedish rally and rallycross driver. He is the 2017 WRC-2 champion and a previous M-Sport and Škoda Motorsport driver. Pontus is the son of Swedish rally driver Tomas Tidemand and ex-rally co-driver Maud Solberg, nowadays the wife of Norwegian rally driver Henning Solberg. The Škoda Fabia R5 is a rally car built by Škoda Motorsport. It is based upon the Škoda Fabia road car and is built to R5 regulations. It made its competition début in 2015 as a successor to the Škoda Fabia S2000. The car proved to be very successful in the World Rally Championship-2 class, winning thirty-five events between 2015 and 2018. Jan Kopecký (born January 28, 1982) is a professional rally driver from Czech Republic who drives for Škoda Motorsport. Sebastian Marshall (born 29 May 1988) is a British rally co-driver. Rally career Sebastian Marshall began his rally career in 2005, co-driving for several drivers. In the 2008 Rallye Deutschland, he made his WRC debut, where he partnered Richard Moore in a Ford Fiesta ST. In January 2015, it was announced he would be co-driving for Kevin Abbring for Hyundai Motorsport in the World Rally Championship. Kevin Abbring (born 20 January 1989) is a Dutch rally racing driver. His father, Edwin Abbring, is also a well-known former rally driver. Career Abbring started his motorsport career in Rallycross with a 60 bhp strong buggy for newcomers, winning the 2005 and 2006 titles of the Dutch Ford RST series. In 2007 he competed in the Dutch Rally Championship with a Mitsubishi Colt. He also made his World Rally Championship debut in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. DMACK World Rally Team was a team that competed in the World Rally Championship since 2012 until 2017. History Beginning with the 2011 season, DMACK began supplying tyres for the Scottish Rally Championship and the Production World Rally Championship. The company made its World Rally Championship debut at the 2011 Wales Rally GB on the car of Ott Tänak. Raigo Mõlder (born 25 March 1982) is an Estonian rally co-driver. He was the co-driver of 2019 World Rally Champion Ott Tänak from 2014 to 2016. Rally career Mõlder made his WRC debut at 2009 Rally Finland, where he was the navigator of compatriot Georg Gross in a Subaru Impreza STi N12. His most successful part of career was with Ott Tänak. Mõlder achieved his first podium finish at 2015 Rally Poland. A year later, at 2016 Rally Poland, it could be a victory until a puncture dropped the Estonian crew down to second. Ott Tänak (; born 15 October 1987) is an Estonian rally driver and the 2019 World Rally Champion. He is currently teamed with Martin Järveoja and is competing for Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT. Tänak achieved his maiden drivers' world title in the 2019 World Rally Championship, making him the first Estonian to win the drivers' championship, the first non-Frenchman to win the title since Petter Solberg in 2003 and the first for Toyota since Didier Auriol in 1994.
