2016 Big East Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2016 Big East Conference baseball tournament was held at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Maryland from May 26 through 29. The event, held at the end of the conference regular season, determined the champion of the Big East Conference for the 2016 season. Xavier won the double-elimination tournament and received the conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The 2016 NCAA Division I baseball tournament began on Friday, June 3, 2016, as part of the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64-team, double-elimination tournament concluded with the 2016 College World Series (CWS) in Omaha, Nebraska, starting on June 18, 2016, and ending on June 30, 2016. Creighton Bluejays Baseball
The Creighton Bluejays baseball team represents the Creighton University in NCAA Division I college baseball, and competes as a member of the Big East Conference. Home games are played off campus at nearby Charles Schwab Field Omaha, which annually hosts the College World Series in June. Scott Googins
Scott Googins is an American college baseball coach who was most recently the head coach of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats Baseball Team. Googins was hired at Cincinnati on June 6, 2017, and resigned in May 2023 following the conclusion of the Bearcats' 2023 season, shortly after multiple assistants were fired for failing to report a sports gambling scandal. He left Xavier after being the skipper of the Musketeers baseball team since the start of the 2006 season. Under Googins, Xavier appeared in three NCAA tournaments. In 2008, he was named the A-10 Coach of the Year, and in 2009, he was named the ABCA Mideast Region Coach of the Year. The Xavier Musketeers baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. The program's first season was in 1974, and it has been a member of the NCAA Division I Big East Conference since the start of the 2014 season. Its home venue is J.
