The 2015–16 Lietuvos krepšinio lyga was the 23rd season of the top-tier level professional basketball league of Lithuania, the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) (''English'': Lithuanian Basketball League), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania. Competition format During the regular season, all teams played 36 games. The top eight teams, after playing the whole 40 games, each joined the playoffs, in the quarterfinals, that were played in a best-of-three games format. The semifinals were also played in this format. The final round was played between the two winners of the semifinals. The season started in October 2014, and finished in June 2015. BC Žalgiris, Žalgiris won its 17th title, the fifth in a row. Competition format Regular season During the regular season, all teams played 40 games. Playoff round The top eight teams in the regular season round joined the playoffs in the quarterfinals, that were played in a best-of-three games format. The semifinals were also played in this format. The final round was played between the two winners of the semifinals. BC Prienai
BC Prienai ( lt, Krepšinio klubas Prienai), also known by the sponsor name Labas Gas, is a professional basketball club based in Prienai, Lithuania. They play domestically in Lithuanian Basketball League every year. During the 2008–09 season, then called Rūdupis, they became the champion of the NKL and won the challenge match for a slot in the LKL. In their debut LKL season Rūdupis took seventh place, while next two seasons brought BC Prienai two bronze LKL medals. BC Prienai played in EuroCup 2011–12 with moderate success; the team won 3 games out of 6, but nonetheless failed to qualify for the next stage. More recently, the team has become a strong competitor in domestic tournaments, more than once upsetting teams such as Žalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos rytas Vilnius. Å vyturio Arena ''(English: Lighthouse Arena)'' is an indoor arena in KlaipÄ—da, Lithuania. The arena is named after the company '' Å vyturys'', which bought the rights for the name. The capacity of the catamaran-shaped arena is 6,200 seats for basketball games, 4,416 for ice hockey games, 6,512 for boxing/wrestling matches, and 7,450 seats for concerts. Klaipėda (; ; german: Memel; pl, Kłajpeda; russian: Клайпеда; sgs, Klaipieda) is a city in Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. Siemens Arena
Avia Solutions Group Arena, located in southern part of Verkiai elderate of Vilnius, is the second largest arena in Lithuania. It generally hosts basketball games as well as concerts. The arena opened on October 30, 2004. The basketball club Rytas Vilnius, which currently competes in the domestic LKL, and in FIBA Champions League, uses the facility for all of its European home fixtures. Avia Solutions Group Arena also hosts Rytas' home fixtures of the Lithuanian "national derby" against its archrival Žalgiris Kaunas in both the LKL and BBL. Lietuvos Rytas Arena
Jeep Arena is a 2,741-seat basketball arena in Vilnius, Lithuania, built next to Avia Solutions Group Arena. Rytas Vilnius play the Lithuanian Basketball League's home matches in the arena. In 2014, its capacity was expanded from 1,700 seats to 2,500 seats with the aim to host EuroCup games. Tenants More important or highly anticipated matches in the LKL, as well as all home fixtures in European competitions (such as the EuroLeague or EuroCup), are played in the Avia Solutions Group Arena.
