2014 CrossFit Games
The 2014 CrossFit Games were held on July 22–27, 2014 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, and were the eighth edition of the Games. The CrossFit Games are an annual competition to determine the "Fittest on Earth" and feature workouts designed using the CrossFit program. Rich Froning Jr. was the men's winner, while Camille Leblanc-Bazinet of Canada won the women's event, and CrossFit Invictus won the Affiliate Cup. This year's Games were tightly contested after Rich Froning Jr. who started well faltered in a few events. He finished strongly with three straight event wins in the final day to clinch a record fourth consecutive title. He retired from individual competition after this Games, concentrating instead on the team events in the following seasons. Dignity Health Sports Park is a multi-use sports complex located on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. The complex consists of the 27,000-seat Dignity Health Sports Park soccer stadium, the Dignity Health Sports Park tennis stadium, a track-and-field facility, and the VELO Sports Center velodrome. It is approximately south of downtown Los Angeles, and its primary tenant is the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS). The main stadium is also home to the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL. The LA Galaxy II of the USL Championship play their home matches at the complex's track and field facility. Julie Foucher
Julie Foucher (born December 26, 1988) is an American CrossFit athlete and medical resident. She has competed in the CrossFit Games four times, and has historically been one of the most successful women in the sport. Across her four Games appearances, Foucher has never finished outside the top 5. She has twice finished on the podium, earning 2nd in 2012 and 3rd in 2014. Foucher was a favourite in 2015, but was not able to compete after tearing her Achilles tendon during the season's second qualifying stage. Foucher works on the CrossFit Level 1 Seminar Staff, and graduated from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University in 2017. Jason Khalipa (born October 2, 1985 in San Jose, California) is an American former professional CrossFit Games athlete known for his accomplishments as the 2008 CrossFit Games champion. He also received the Spirit of the Games award at the 2009 CrossFit Games and was selected to participate as a member of Team USA at the CrossFit Invitational in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Anna Tunnicliffe Tobias (born October 17, 1982) is an American sailor and CrossFit competitor. In 2008 she won an Olympic gold medal in the Laser Radial single handed sailing class. In 2009 and 2011, she won the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Laser Radial. She also won the women's world championship of the snipe class in 2010, and placed second in 2008. She was named ICSA Women’s College Sailor of the Year in 2005, ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year in 2009 and 2011, and US Sailing’s Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year every year from 2008 to 2011.
