2013 British GT Season
The 2013 Avon Tyres British GT season was the 21st season of the British GT Championship. The season began on 30 March at Oulton Park and finished on 6 October at Donington Park, after ten rounds held over seven meetings. Beechdean Motorsport team principal Andrew Howard won the GT3 category in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, Optimum Motorsport's Ryan Ratcliffe and Rick Parfitt Jr. won the GT4 championship, driving a Ginetta G50 while Paul Bailey and Andy Schulz took the GTC title in a Ferrari 458 Challenge, driving for Horsepower Racing. Entry list The SRO released the entry list on 7 March at the season launch, containing 27 GT3 and 6 GT4 full season entries. British GT Championship
The British GT Championship is a sports car racing series based predominantly in the United Kingdom. The series was originally created by the British Racing Drivers' Club in 1993 and, for its first two seasons, was known as the National Sports GT Challenge. The series is currently run by the SRO Motorsports Group, while Pirelli began its first season as the championship's official sole tyre supplier in 2016. Two classes currently compete in the championship: GT3 and GT4. A consolidation of GT regulations and significant manufacturer support saw British GT first introduce a GT3 class in 2005. The category later mirrored FIA Group GT3 and used near-identical regulations to the FIA GT3 European Championship from 2006 onwards. GT3 rules include extensive balance of performance and handicap weights to make cars artificially more equal. Alliance Racing (formerly known as Motorbase Performance) is a British Motorsport, motor racing team, founded in 2004 by former Production Saloon racer David Bartrum. They are best known for competing in the British Touring Car Championship. Matt Griffin (racing Driver)
Matthew Jude Griffin (born May 9, 1968) is an American professional football coach and former collegiate player. He served as the head football coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) from 2003 to 2006, and Murray State University from 2007 to 2009, compiling a career college football record of 21 wins and 58 losses. Coaching career Early positions Griffin began his coaching career from 1992 to 1993 at Plymouth State College in New Hampshire. Allan Weel Simonsen (5 July 1978 – 22 June 2013) was a Danish auto racing, racing driver, born in Odense. He died after a crash during the third lap of the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans. Career After beginning his career in kart racing, karting racing against the likes of future Formula One World Champion Kimi Räikkönen, Simonsen moved to cars in 1999, winning the Danish Formula Ford Championship.
