2012–13 Oman Elite League
The 2012–13 Oman Elite League (known as the '' Omantel Elite League'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 37th edition of the top football league in Oman. It began on 4 October 2012 and was scheduled to finish on 19 May 2013, but for the second season running, the league title had to be decided by a playoff. Fanja SC were the defending champions, having won the previous 2011–12 Elite League season. Al-Suwaiq Club won the Championship Final match against Fanja 3–1 and emerged as the champions of the 2012–13 Oman Elite League. Teams This season the league had increased from 12 to 14 teams. As a result, despite losing the relegation play-off to Al-Seeb Club, Salalah SC retained their place in the top division and Al-Musannah SC, whose 11th-place finish would have seen them relegated also retained their place in the top division. The Oman Professional League (; known as the ''Omantel Professional League'' for sponsorship reasons), previously known as the Omantel Elite League, is the top division of the Oman Football Association, and was officially created in 1976. Currently, the most successful team in the league is Dhofar S.C.S.C., Dhofar with 12 titles to their name. Evolution to a professional league In 2010, during the annual draw for the Sultan Qaboos Cup, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, granted the Oman Football Association, OFA an annual 2.6 million Omani Rial, rial (approximately 6.7 million US Dollars, dollars) till the year 2015 to further boost the development of the league. The move was made to nurture Oman's football youth, and create higher hopes of Oman qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Salalah
Salalah () is the capital and largest city of the southern Omani Governorates of Oman, governorate of Dhofar Governorate, Dhofar. It has a population close to 331,949. Hamad Khalifa Hamed Al-Azani commonly known as Hamad Al-Azani (; born 31 May 1973) is an Omani football manager and a former footballer who is currently the manager of Oman national under-23 football team. Al Buraimi Governorate
Al Buraimi Governorate () is one of the 11 governorates of Oman. The area was part of Ad Dhahirah Region until October 2006, when a new governorate was created from the wilayats (provinces) of Al Buraymi and Mahdah. A third wilayat, As- Sunaynah, was created from parts of the two. Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi has been governor since 2020. Al-Nahda Club (; (also known locally as ''Al-Aneed'', or "The Tenacious", or just plainly as Al-Nahda) is an Omani sports club based in Al-Buraimi. The club currently plays in the Oman Professional League, top division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is Al-Buraimi Sports Complex.
