2012 Wisconsin Senate Election
The 2012 Wisconsin Senate elections were held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Sixteen of the 33 seats in the Wisconsin Senate were up for election—the even-numbered districts. This was the first Senate general election to take place after redistricting following the 2010 United States census. Before the election, 17 Senate seats were held by Democrats and 16 seats were held by Republicans. 10 Democratic seats and 6 Republican seats were up in this election. The primary election took place on August 13, 2012. Republicans flipped two Democratic-held Senate seat and won the chamber majority, entering the 101st Wisconsin Legislature with 18 of 33 State Senate seats. Wisconsin Republican Party
The Republican Party of Wisconsin is a conservative and populist political party in Wisconsin and is the Wisconsin affiliate of the United States Republican Party (GOP). The state party chair is Brian Schimming. The state party is divided into 72 county parties for each of the state's counties, as well as organizations for the state's eight congressional districts. Wisconsin's 6th Senate District
The 6th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within central Milwaukee County. It includes parts of north, west, and downtown Milwaukee, and part of eastern Wauwatosa. It contains landmarks such as the Marquette University campus, Fiserv Forum (home of the Milwaukee Bucks), the Milwaukee Public Museum, historic Holy Cross Cemetery, and the Miller Brewing Company. Lena Taylor
Lena C. Taylor (born July 25, 1966) is an American lawyer, judge, and former politician serving as a Wisconsin circuit courts, Wisconsin circuit court judge in Milwaukee County, since January 2024. She previously served 19 years as a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing the Wisconsin's 4th Senate district, 4th State Senate district from 2005 to 2024, and was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for one term before that. The 4th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within northern Milwaukee County. Robert Lewis Cowles III (born July 31, 1950) is a retired American Republican Party (United States), Republican politician from Green Bay, Wisconsin. He served 38 years as a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing Wisconsin's 2nd Senate district from 1987 to 2025. Before being elected to the Senate, he served four years in the Wisconsin State Assembly (1983–1987). WTMJ-TV (channel 4) is a television station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, affiliated with NBC. It is owned by the E.W. Scripps Company alongside Kenosha-licensed Ion Television station WPXE-TV (channel 55). WTMJ-TV's studios are located on Capitol Drive (WIS 190) in Milwaukee (an Art Deco facility that is known as "Radio City", in tribute to the New York complex of the same name), and its transmitter is located approximately north of downtown Milwaukee.
