2012 Skate Canada International
The 2012 Skate Canada International was the second event of six in the 2012–13 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario on October 26–28. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2012–13 Grand Prix Final. Eligibility Skaters who reached the age of 14 by July 1, 2012 were eligible to compete on the 2012 senior Grand Prix circuit. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Figure skating is the oldest winter sport contested at the Olympics, with men's and women's single skating appearing as two of the four figure skating events at the 1908 Summer Olympics, London Games in 1908. Single skaters are required to perform two segments in all international competitions, the short program (figure skating), short program and the free skating program. Paige Lawrence
Paige Lawrence (born February 22, 1990) is a Canadian former competitive pair skater. With former partner Rudi Swiegers, she is the 2011 Four Continents bronze medallist and a four-time Canadian national bronze medallist (2011–14). Personal life Lawrence was born in Kipling, Saskatchewan. She is the third of five children born to Jim, a professional bull rider, and Leanne Lawrence. Her parents owned a rodeo production company. Her father also played ice hockey and her mother enjoyed figure skating. Lawrence competed in barrel racing in her youth. Liam Firus
Liam Firus (born July 2, 1992) is a Canadian retired figure skater. He is the 2016 Triglav Trophy champion and a three-time Canadian national medallist (silver in 2016, bronze in 2014–15). He competed at the 2014 Olympic Games. Earlier in his career, Firus won two bronze medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series. Alexei Alexandrovich Sitnikov (russian: Алексей Александрович Ситников; born 23 May 1986) is a former competitive ice dancer.
