2011–12 Toto Cup Al
The 2011–12 Toto Cup Al was the thirtieth season of the third most important Association football, football tournament in Israel since its introduction and the first under the current format. It was held in two stages. First, sixteen 2011–12 Israeli Premier League, Premier League teams were divided into four groups. The winners and runners-up, were advanced to the Quarterfinals. Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals were held as one-legged matches, with the Final played at HaMoshava Stadium in Petah Tikva. It began on 30 July 2011 and ended on 24 January 2012. Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona F.C., Ironi Kiryat Shmona were the defending champions, who made it their first Toto Cup Al title overall. The Israel Toto Cup (, ''Gvia Ha'Toto'') is an association football tournament that features clubs in the two highest divisions in Israel: the Israeli Premier League Ligat ha'Al, Ligat Ha'Al; and the Israeli 2nd division Liga Leumit. Both of these leagues are featured separately for the Israel Toto Cup – at a distinct seasonal tournament for each of these two. They are simply referred to as ''Toto Cup Al'' and ''Toto Cup Leumit'', in many global media outlets. Israel Standard Time (IST) ( ', ) is the standard time zone in Israel. It is two hours ahead of UTC ( UTC+02:00). Overview History At the beginning of the British Mandate, the time zone of the mandate area (present-day Israel and Jordan), was set to Cairo's time zone, which is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. The unique "Israel Standard Time" came into effect with the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, which gave Israel the authority in determining its own time, specifically to enact daylight saving time. The penalty shootout is a method of determining a winner in sports matches that would have otherwise been drawn or tied.
