Azerbaijan First Division
The Azerbaijan First League () is the second highest professional division in Azerbaijani professional football. The league is run by AFFA. The winner promotes to Premier Division. History Due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, all Azerbaijan clubs of the former Soviet Premier Division and Soviet First Division conformed a single Azerbaijan Premier League, which meant that the new second tier of Azerbaijan football would remain regionalized. For the first two seasons three regional groups conformed the second tier, until in 1994 the single table in use today began to be used. FK Shamkir
Shamkir Football Club () is an Azerbaijani football club based in Şəmkir, that currently plays in the Azerbaijan First Division. The club is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in Azerbaijan's football history with two Azerbaijan Premier League titles. History The club was established in 1954, even though it never participated in any Soviet football league. It was re-established in 1993. Shamkir's most successful years were at the start of the 2000s, after Shahbaz Suleymanov's takeover, the club with Agaselim Mirjavadov consecutively won three Azerbaijan Premier League titles and reached the final of Azerbaijan Cup three times. The club also became the first Azerbaijani team to pass the qualifying stage of Champions League. 2010–11 Azerbaijan Cup
The Azerbaijan Cup 2010–11 is the 19th season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan. It started on 26 October 2010 with four games of the Premiliary Round and will end in May 2011 with the final held at Tofik Bakhramov Stadium in Baku. FK Baku are the defending champions. Twenty-two teams are scheduled to compete in this year's competition. The winners will receive a berth in the second qualifying round of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League. Preliminary round Twelve lower division teams qualified for this competition played against each other over one leg. 2010–11 Azerbaijan Premier League
The 2010–11 Azerbaijan Premier League (known as the Unibank Premyer Liqası for sponsorship reasons) was the nineteenth season of the top tier Azerbaijan Premier League since its establishment in 1992. The fixtures were announced on 29 July 2010; the season began on 7 August 2010 and ended on 28 May 2011. Neftchi Baku were the eventual champions, winning their first Azerbaijani championship since 2005. The league was competed over two stages. The first stage consisted of a regular home-and-away round-robin schedule for a total of 22 matches per team. The competition was then split in half, with the teams ranked first through sixth playing out the championship and the European spots while the bottom six teams having to avoid one of the two relegation places. 2011–12 Azerbaijan Premier League
The 2011–12 Azerbaijan Premier League (known as the Unibank Premyer Liqası for sponsorship reasons) was the twentieth season of the Premier League since its establishment in 1992. Neftchi Baku was the defending champions, having won their second Azerbaijani championship the previous season. The twelve teams participating in the league included the ten sides remaining from the 2010–11 season, one promoted club from the 2010–11 Azerbaijan First Division and a totally new club instead of the defunct First Division champions FC Absheron. The format of the league was the same as in the 2010–11 season. Karvan FK () was an Azerbaijani football club based in Yevlakh, that set to participated in the Azerbaijan Premier League from 2025–26 after promotion from Azerbaijan First Division in 2024–25. It was the first Azerbaijan club to pass the first qualification stage in the UEFA Cup. Qaradağ Lökbatan FK () was an Azerbaijani football (soccer), football club based in Lökbatan. History The club was established in 2009 under the name of ''Neftchi-ISM'' as Neftchi Baku PFC, Neftchi Baku's reserve team, and played in Azerbaijan First Division. However, reserve teams cannot play in the same division as their senior team and therefore the club was ineligible for promotion to the Azerbaijan Premier League.
