2009 Mini Challenge UK
The 2009 Mini Challenge season was the eighth season of the Mini Challenge UK. The season started on 18 April at Rockingham Motor Speedway and ended on 27 September at Snetterton Motor Racing Circuit. The season featured six rounds across the UK. Calendar Entry list Championship standings ;Scoring system Championship points were awarded for the first 15 positions in each Championship Race. Entries were required to complete 75% of the winning car's race distance in order to be classified and earn points. Mini Challenge UK
The Mini Challenge UK is a one-make race series began in 2002 and since 2020 it has run as a support package to the British Touring Car Championship. Throughout the championship's history it established itself as one of the main routes into topline Touring Car racing, and drivers went on to do well in the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom, British Touring Car Championship, World Touring Car Championship and British GT Championship. Rockingham Motor Speedway
Rockingham Motor Speedway is a former racing motorsport venue in Rockingham, Northamptonshire, England, United Kingdom, near the town of Corby. It hosted professional and club races, as well as testing, track days, driver training, exhibitions and conferences. It claimed to be Europe's fastest racing circuit, and was the first banked oval constructed in Britain since the closure of Brooklands in 1939. The venue entered administration in 2017 and hosted its final motor race in November 2018. In 2021, the facility was purchased by Constellation Automotive for £80million. Snetterton Motor Racing Circuit
Snetterton Circuit is a motor racing course in Norfolk, England, originally opened in 1953. Owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, it is situated on the A11 road north-east of the town of Thetford and south-west of the city of Norwich. Brands Hatch
Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit in West Kingsdown, Kent, England, United Kingdom. Originally used as a grasstrack motorcycle circuit on farmland, it hosted 12 runnings of the British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986 and currently hosts many British and International racing events. Donington Park
Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038. It has a capacity of 120,000, and is also the venue of the Download Festival. Originally part of the Donington Hall estate, it was created as a racing circuit during the period between the First and Second World Wars when the German Silver Arrows were battling for the European Championship. Castle Combe
Castle Combe is a village and civil parish within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Wiltshire, England. The village is around north-west of Chippenham. A castle once stood in the area, but was demolished centuries ago. The village is in two parts: one is in the narrow valley of By Brook, while Upper Castle Combe is on higher land to the east, on the B4039 road connecting Chippenham and Chipping Sodbury. Croft Circuit
Croft Circuit is a motor racing circuit located near Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire, England. The tarmac circuit is long and is based on the lands of an airfield, but has long since moved on from being a basic airfield circuit. The circuit holds meetings of the British Touring Car Championship, British Rallycross and Pickup Truck Racing race series. History The first records of racing at Croft date back to the 1920s, but it was after the Second World War that Croft circuit became a significant motorsport venue. Arthur Forster
Arthur Forster (born 3 August 1967 in Newcastle upon Tyne) is a British auto racing driver. He is currently competing in the UK MINI Challenge with his own Forster Motorsport team, and competed in the 2010 British Touring Car Championship for them. Racing career Forster competed in karting at club level in the 1980s. In 1994 he competed in the Ford Fiesta Challenge as a privateer. In 2002 he stepped up to the Mini Challenge, finishing second in 2004 before becoming champion in 2005. He was second outright again in 2006. He also competed in Britcar between 2005 and 2007 in a self-built Mini, winning a race outright at Snetterton in 2005. He also competed in the Silverstone 24 Hours with just one teammate after third driver and popstar Chris Rea withdrew due to illness. Martin Lee Dapper (born 5 July 1968) is a British auto racing driver and businessman. He previously competed in the British Touring Car Championship. Depper was the 2008 Mini Challenge UK Champion with Forster Motorsport. In 2013, he competed in the VW Cup, racing for KPM. Racing career Born in Kings Norton, West Midlands, Depper first started competitive racing in 2005, initially in the Mini Challenge Cooper Class. After finishing third in Club Class in his second season, he finished third outright in the Senior Class in 2007 for Forster Motorsport, and won the drivers title outright in 2008. In 2009, he finished in fourth place overall with three race wins. Chris James (racing Driver)
Christopher Nigel James (born 28 December 1978 in Luton, Bedfordshire) is a British auto racing driver. Racing career James competed in the Fiat Racing challenge between 2000 and 2005 at the wheel of a Fiat Punto, taking several wins. He returned to racing in 2008, driving in selected rounds of the Mini Challenge. After half a season in 2009, he contested a full campaign in 2010 with one race win & finished third in class. In 2011 he competed in the British Touring Car Championship. He drove a Chevrolet Lacetti for his own ES Racing team, his best finish throughout the season was a twelfth place at Donington. In 2012 Team ES Racing.com acquired two ex- Triple Eight Vauxhall Vectra for himself and Dave Newsham. EXCELR8 Motorsport is a British racing team that is headed by Justina Williams, and is currently competing in both the MINI CHALLENGE and British Touring Car Championship. The team has successfully competed in the MINI CHALLENGE since 2010 racking up multiple championships in both the Cooper and JCW classes, including in the most recent 2020 season when it carried Nathan Harrison to the JCW crown.
