Investigation Discovery (European TV Channel)
Investigation Discovery (abbreviated as ID) is a pay television channel available in several European nations. It competes in the same genre as Crime & Investigation Network which is also available in several European nations. The ID channel features crime programming, including "missing persons and murder inquiries, cold cases and historical crime," as well as documentaries on forensic investigations. One such program is Deadly Women, an investigative series in which former FBI agent and profiler Candice DeLong looks at female killers throughout history. Its programming is mainly in English and locally subtitled or dubbed. In some countries, the advertisement and the announcements between programs are localized. Klovn
''Klovn'' ("Clown") is a Danish sitcom, which first aired on the Danish TV channel TV2 Zulu. It focuses on the life of the main character Frank (played by Frank Hvam) and Casper (played by Casper Christensen). The show builds its comedy around quiet everyday situations, social awkwardness, uncomfortable silences and general faux pas. ''Klovn'' shares many concepts with the American sitcom ''Curb Your Enthusiasm'' by Larry David, notably the main concept of a semi-retired comedian encountering humorous and embarrassing situations, along with his wife, friends and celebrity acquaintances. The show is also held in a pseudo-realistic style where all lines are retroscripted, so a first-time viewer might be in doubt of whether or not the show is staged. Even the score is similar. Viasat Sport 3
Viasat Sport 3 was a Scandinavian sports channel mainly showing basketball, combat sports, auto racing and American football. The channel started on 1 February 2004 together with Viasat Sport 2. The main sports in the summer are NASCAR, Indy Racing League, Boxing, Euroleague. Viasat Sport 3 also had the rights to the soccer club TV channel Blackburn Rovers TV. Viasat Sport 2
Viasat Sport 2 was a Scandinavian soccer channel. The channel started February 1, 2004 together with Viasat Sport 3. Viasat Sport 2 has the rights to Manchester United TV and Chelsea TV. Viasat Sport 2 also shows the UEFA Champions League, the Dutch Eredivise, the Danish SAS Ligaen, the French Ligue 1, the UEFA Euro Qualifications, the FA Cup, The Italian Serie A, Football League Championship, Coppa Italia and the World Cup qualifications. The channel was available in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia along with its sister channel Viasat Sport 3. Its programming was centred towards culture and history. History Originally conceived as a channel dedicated to history, the channel was first presented in 2005 in the run up to DR's new settlement with the Danish state. Disney XD (Scandinavian TV Channel)
Disney XD was a children's channel offered in the Nordic countries that broadcast 16 hours a day, between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm CET. It replaced Jetix and Toon Disney on 12 September 2009. Jetix used to end its broadcast daily at 6:00 pm. Disney XD was funded by advertising, as was Jetix, while Toon Disney was commercial-free. Much of the distribution used by the two former channels was taken over by Disney XD. This includes the analogue frequency in YouSee's cable network, previously used by Jetix and Hallmark Channel. The channel was also available terrestrially in Denmark from 1 November 2009, via the Boxer platform. Jetix was granted a license to broadcast terrestrially in Sweden in March 2008, but were yet to use it due to transmission disputes. Voom HD International
Voom HD was a television channel providing high-definition programming from various genres. The network was available in 35 countries in Europe and Asia. Programming was taken from the various stations owned by Voom HD Networks in the United States and includes '' Full Frontal Fashion'', '' Earth Diaries'' and '' Gamespotting''. A deal between Rainbow Networks and the Stockholm-based company NonStop Television was made in 2006 that allowed NonStop to distribute the channel in Scandinavia, Finland, Iceland and the Baltic states. The channel was launched in Sweden by satellite distributor Canal Digital on November 1. This was soon followed by launched in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia and Latvia on various providers. V Film
V Film is a group of premium movie channels broadcasting in the Nordic countries owned by Viaplay Group. History Viasat Film was started by Kinnevik on 27 August 1989 as TV1000, using one of the sixteen transponders on Astra 1A, the very first Astra satellite. In June 1991 TV1000 announced that they channel would merge with another pay movie channel called SF Succé. This gave the channel a content boost with several Swedish films. It also made TV1000 more able to compete with FilmNet which was the leading premium channel at the time. The merger took place on 1 September 1991. The name of the merged channel was initially announced to be "TV1000 Succékanalen", although this was not used on air. As TV1000 was much larger than SF Succé, Kinnevik would own 75 percent of the new channel, while SF Succé's owners only owned 25 percent. SF-kanalen is a Scandinavian television channel, which shows movies from the library of Svensk Filmindustri SF Studios is Sweden’s largest film studio. It is involved in production, distribution, and movie theater market chains (both Swedish and international, including American) with headquarters in Stockholm and local offices in Oslo, Copenhagen .... It is broadcast to Sweden as a part of the TV4 Play+ package. The channel launched on 1 October 2009 and would broadcast 24 hours per day from the start. From 1 November 2009, it will broadcast terrestrially in Sweden between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Weekdays and between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Weekends, sharing its channel space with Canal+ Sport 1. DR Ramasjang
DR Ramasjang is a Danish public television channel owned by DR which targets children aged 3–13. The channel takes its name from the Danish word , which refers to a loud or festive uproar, similar to the English '' hullabaloo''. History DR presented their idea to launch a channel for children in 2005 in preparation for the new media settlement of 2006. When the settlement was presented in June 2006, the plan was for the children's channel to broadcast in the daytime while a history channel would broadcast in the evening. Television In Denmark
Television in Denmark was established in the 1950s and was run by a monopoly with only one channel available until the 1980s. History The first television broadcasts in Denmark started on 2 October 1951. These were carried out by the national radio broadcaster Statsradiofonien and consisted of a one-hour broadcast three times per week. The broadcasts were initially limited to a few hundred homes in the capital area. Daily broadcasts started in 1954. With the opening of the Gladsaxe transmitter, most of Zealand could watch television. The entire country was covered in 1960 when the transmitter on Bornholm opened. Statsradiofonien was renamed Danmarks Radio (DR) in 1959. The first news programme, TV-Avisen, started in 1965. Colour television started test transmissions in 1967, with colour television becoming the norm in filming and broadcasting from 1970 on.
