2009 Brands Hatch Formula Two Round
The 2009 Brands Hatch Formula Two round was the fourth round of the 2009 FIA Formula Two Championship season. It was held on 18 and 19 July 2009 at Brands Hatch at Kent, United Kingdom. The first race was won by Philipp Eng, with Andy Soucek and Henry Surtees also on the podium. The second race was won by Andy Soucek, with Robert Wickens and Mikhail Aleshin also on the podium. The round was overshadowed by the fatal accident suffered by Henry Surtees in second race. Surtees was hit on the head by a wheel from the car of Jack Clarke (racing driver), Jack Clarke after Clarke spun into the wall exiting Westfield Bend. The wheel broke its tether and bounced back across the track into the following group of cars and collided with Surtees' helmet. The car continued straight ahead into the barrier on the approach to Sheene Curve, also losing a wheel, and came to rest at the end of the curve with its remaining rear wheel still spinning. Brands Hatch
Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit in West Kingsdown, Kent, England, United Kingdom. Originally used as a grasstrack motorcycle circuit on farmland, it hosted 12 runnings of the British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986 and currently hosts many British and International racing events. The venue is owned and operated by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation. Circuit Brands Hatch offers two layout configurations. The "Indy Circuit" layout is located entirely within a natural amphitheatre offering spectators views of almost all of the shorter configuration from wherever they watch. Sebastian Hohenthal (born 5 November 1984 in Mora) is a former racing driver from Sweden. Career Karting Hohenthal competed in kart racing from 1995 to 2000. During this period he won the Dalacupen Formula Micro in 1996, the Tom Trana Trophy ICA Junior in 1999, and both the Nordic and Swedish ICA Junior championships in 2000. Formula Ford Hohenthal stepped up to formula racing in 2001, driving in the local Nordic and Swedish Formula Ford championships. In 2003, driving for rally driver Stig Blomqvist's team, he won both titles. In the same year, he moved to the United Kingdom racing scene to drive for the Nexa Racing team. Armaan Ebrahim (born 17 May 1989) is a car Auto racing, racer from Chennai, India. He is the son of the ex-Indian Formula Three, F3 champion Akbar Ebrahim. Career Ebrahim started his career in karting and became Formula LGB Champion in 2004. He later moved to Formula BMW Asia for the 2005 season. During the same year he represented A1 Team India in the A1 Grand Prix Championship, driving in 6 races, before the team was disbanded due to lack of funds. Germán Sánchez (racing Driver)
Germán Sánchez Flor (born 4 July 1989 in Alicante) is a Spanish racing driver. Career Formula Three Sánchez made his car racing debut aged just sixteen, when he took part in the 2006 Spanish Formula Three Championship. Driving a Dallara F300 for Escuela Profiltek, Sánchez was also eligible for the secondary Copa de España as he was driving an older car than most other competitors. Sánchez won the Copa de España, winning seven of the fifteen races, with three other podium finishes. He also amassed seventeen points towards the main championship, and finished 13th overall. For the 2007 season, he moved to Campos Racing and the main championship. Tobias Hegewald (born 3 August 1989 in Neuwied) is a German racing driver. Career Karting Hegewald spent three seasons racing in professional karting, including a 5th place in the 2002 Junior Monaco Kart Cup at ICA Junior level, racing against the likes of Formula Three Euroseries racers Alexander Sims, Jean Karl Vernay, Stefano Coletti and Jules Bianchi and also Sébastien Buemi. Alex Brundle (born 7 August 1990) is a British racing driver and broadcaster who currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Inter Europol Competition.
