The following is a list of all team-to-team transactions that have occurred in the National Hockey League during the 2008–09 NHL season. It lists what team each player has been traded to, signed by, or claimed by, and for which players or draft picks, if applicable. The 2008–09 NHL trade deadline was on March 4, 2009. Players traded or claimed off waivers after that date were not be eligible to play in the 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Ottawa Senators (), officially the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club and colloquially known as the Sens, are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa.
