2005 UAW-Ford 500
The 2005 UAW-Ford 500 was a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race that took place on October 2, 2005, at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama. It was the 29th race of the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and the third in the ten-race, season-ending Chase for the Sprint Cup, Chase for the Nextel Cup. Dale Jarrett of Robert Yates Racing would win the race. Until the 2008 Aaron's 499, this was the last time a Hendrick Motorsports car did not win at Talladega. Michael Samuel Wallace (born March 10, 1959) is an American professional stock car racing driver born in Fenton, Missouri. He is the younger brother of Rusty Wallace, the older brother of Kenny Wallace, and the uncle of Steve Wallace (racing driver), Steve Wallace. His daughter, Chrissy Wallace, and son, Matt Wallace (racing driver), Matt Wallace, have also competed in racing. Jasper Motorsports was a NASCAR Nextel Cup team. It was owned by a variety of owners including D.K. Ulrich and Doug Bawel. 1970s–1980s The car started in 1971 Maryville 200, 1971 at what turned out to be the only Winston Cup race at Smoky Mountain Raceway as the No. 41 Ford Motor Company, Ford owned and driven by Ulrich, who finished 29th out of 30 cars for heating problems on the 4th lap.
