2000–01 Cleveland Cavaliers Season
The 2000–01 NBA season was the 31st season for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association. The Cavaliers received the eighth overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft, and selected shooting guard Jamal Crawford from the University of Michigan, but soon traded him to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for center, and top draft pick Chris Mihm from the University of Texas at Austin. During the off-season, the team acquired Chris Gatling and Clarence Weatherspoon from the Miami Heat in a three-team trade, Matt Harpring from the Orlando Magic, and Robert Traylor from the Milwaukee Bucks, while signing free agent Bimbo Coles. Randy Wittman
Randy Scott Wittman (born October 28, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player at the guard position and former coach of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Washington Wizards. Playing career High school Wittman starred for Indianapolis Ben Davis High School from 1975 to 1978. He averaged more than 23 points a game for Ben Davis, which remains the second-highest average at the school, and became one of the nation's top recruits. Matthew Joseph Harpring (born May 31, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player who played 11 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and was formerly paired with play-by-play broadcaster Craig Bolerjack as the color analyst in broadcasting games for the Utah Jazz. College career After attending Marist School (Georgia), Marist School near Atlanta, Harpring played college basketball at Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech, where he was a four-year starter. NBA All-Rookie Team
The NBA All-Rookie Team is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) honor given since the 1962–63 NBA season to the top rookies during the regular season. Voting is conducted by the NBA head coaches who are not allowed to vote for players on their own team. The All-Rookie Team is generally composed of two five-man lineups: a first team and a second team. The players each receive two points for each first team vote and one point for each second team vote. The top five players with the highest point total make the first team, with the next five making the second team. In the case of a tie at the fifth position of either team, the roster is expanded. Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Zydrunas Ilgauskas (; ; born June 5, 1975) is a Lithuanian-born American former professional basketball player who played the center position. The Ilgauskas played for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association from 1997 to 2010 and played for the Miami Heat during the 2010–11 season. He was named to the 1997–98 All-Rookie First Team and is a two-time NBA All-Star. Ilgauskas played in the 2007 NBA Finals as a member of the Cavaliers. Lamond Maurice Murray Sr. (born April 20, 1973) is an American former professional basketball player. Murray was selected seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1994 NBA draft after a college career at the University of California at Berkeley, during which he teamed with Jason Kidd. He has played for the Clippers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Toronto Raptors, and the New Jersey Nets throughout his 12-year, 736-game NBA career, averaging 11.3 points per game. Central Division (NBA)
The Central Division is one of the three divisions in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The division consists of five teams, the Chicago Bulls, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Detroit Pistons, the Indiana Pacers, and the Milwaukee Bucks. All teams except the Cavaliers are former Midwest Division teams; thus, the Central Division now largely resembles the Midwest Division in the 1970s. James Arthur Jackson (born October 14, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player. The 2000–01 NBA season was the 52nd season for the Atlanta Hawks in the National Basketball Association, and their 33rd season in Atlanta, Georgia. The Hawks received the sixth overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft, and selected small forward DerMarr Johnson from the University of Cincinnati. During the off-season, the team signed free agent Matt Maloney, and re-signed former Hawks guard Anthony Johnson after a brief stint with the Orlando Magic. Brevin Adon Knight (born November 8, 1975) is an American former professional basketball point guard who played with nine teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1997 to 2009. Vernell Eufaye "Bimbo" Coles (born April 22, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player who played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Virginia Tech Hokies and won an Olympic bronze medal as a member of the United States national team in 1988.
