2000 Big 12 Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2000 Big 12 Conference baseball tournament was held at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, OK from May 17 through 21. Nebraska won their second of three consecutive tournaments and earned the Big 12 Conference's automatic bid to the 2000 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. This was the second year the conference used the format of the College World Series, with two 4-team double-elimination brackets and a final championship game. A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only ''one'' defeat results in elimination. The Big 12 Conference baseball tournament (sometimes known simply as the Big 12 tournament) is the conference championship tournament in baseball for the Big 12 Conference. Going back to the original format abandoned in 2005, the tournament consists of two separate four-team double-elimination tournaments. The winners of each of those tournament face each other in a one-game match for the championship. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The NCAA Division I Baseball Championship is held each year from May through June and features 64 college baseball teams in the United States, culminating in the eight-team Men's College World Series at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. Tournament format The tournament is unique in that it features four tiers of competition, alternating between double-elimination brackets and best-of-three series. In fact, throughout the entire 64-team tournament, a team can lose a total of four games and still be crowned champions. During team selection, sixteen teams are given "national seeds". Kyle Evans (born 26 September 1993) is a British BMX rider from Hindley, Greater Manchester, who represents Great Britain in international competitions. He competed in the men's time trial event at the 2015 UCI BMX World Championships.
