The 1993 NCAA Division I-A football season saw Florida State crowned national champions, in both the AP and Coaches poll. Under the Bowl Coalition, undefeated Big 8 champ and No. 2 ranked Nebraska hosted ACC champ and No. 1 ranked Florida State in the Orange Bowl. This produced a clear champion in the Coaches Poll and the AP poll, despite Florida State's loss to Notre Dame 31–24 during the regular season, in a game known by many as the " Game of the Century". 1993–94 NCAA Football Bowl Games
The 1993–94 NCAA football bowl games concluded the 1993 NCAA Division I-A football season. In the second year of the Bowl Coalition era, the 1994 Orange Bowl was designated as the national championship game, pitting Florida State (11–1), ranked first in the AP Poll and third in the Coaches Poll, against Nebraska (11–0), ranked second in the AP Poll and first in the Coaches Poll. Undefeated and untied West Virginia was ranked second in the Coaches Poll but was relegated to the Sugar Bowl after finishing in third in the Bowl Coalition composite rankings. The 2000 Sugar Bowl was the designated Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship Game for the 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season and was played on January 4, 2000, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Lawrence Lamond Phillips (May 12, 1975 – January 13, 2016) was an American gridiron football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons. A highly touted collegiate prospect, Phillips' professional career was cut short by legal troubles that continued up until his death. William Ali "Bar None" Floyd (born February 17, 1972) is a former American football fullback in the NFL and current color analyst on the Seminole ISP Sports Network.
