Grand Slam (tennis)
The Grand Slam in tennis is the achievement of winning all four major championships in one discipline in a calendar year, also referred to as the "Calendar-year Grand Slam" or "Calendar Slam". In doubles, a team may accomplish the Grand Slam playing together or a player may achieve it with different partners. Winning all four major championships consecutively but not within the same calendar year is referred to as a "non-calendar-year Grand Slam", while winning the four majors at any point during the course of a career is known as a "Career Grand Slam". Julie Spalding-Steven (born April 24, 1976) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography Tennis career Steven grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and had a successful career in junior tennis, culminating in a US Open title. She had a win over Lindsay Davenport at the 1991 US Open, then lost to the same player in the girls' singles final the following year. At the 1992 Wimbledon Championships, she was runner-up in the girls' doubles, partnering Pam Nelson. Her US Open title came in 1993, with Nicole London in the girls' doubles and she also made the singles semifinals that year. Steven Downs (born 8 September 1975) is a former professional tennis player from New Zealand. Biography Downs was a leading international junior, who was the world number one doubles player in 1993 and designated ITF World Champion. He reached a final at all four Grand Slam tournaments in 1993. With partner James Greenhalgh, he won two boys' doubles titles, the French Open and Wimbledon Championships. Amanda Coetzer (born 22 October 1971, in Hoopstad) is a South African former professional tennis player.
