Elvis Stojko
Elvis Stojko, (born March 22, 1972) is a Canadian figure skater. He was a three-time World champion (1994, 1995, 1997), two-time Olympic silver medallist (1994, 1998), and seven-time Canadian champion (1994, 1996–2000, and 2002). Personal life Stojko was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada to a Hungarian mother and Slovenian father and was named after Elvis Presley, of whom his parents were fans. His father arrived in Canada on a boat in 1955 and his mother, Irene ( hu, Irén), fled the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956. Stojko grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario. There is a hockey arena named after him in Richmond Hill. Stojko competed in the 2005 WKA Canadian Championships and placed first in the Chinese martial arts division. Mark Mitchell (American Figure Skater)
Mark Mitchell (born May 2, 1968) is an American retired competitive figure skater. He is a three-time medalist at the United States Figure Skating Championships and placed as high as fourth at the World Figure Skating Championships (in 1993). He currently works as a coach and choreographer in Boston with Peter Johansson. Biography Skating career Mitchell was the 1986 U.S. Junior National Champion. He won the bronze medal at the 1990 United States Figure Skating Championships, but was not named to the World team, despite the U.S. having three spots to that competition. Instead, a medical bye was given to Christopher Bowman who withdrew from the competition with a back injury. Christopher Bowman
Christopher Nicol Bowman (March 30, 1967 – January 10, 2008) was an American figure skater. He was a two-time World medalist (silver in 1989, bronze in 1990), the 1983 World Junior champion, and a two-time U.S. national champion. He competed in two Olympic Winter Games, placing 7th in 1988 and 4th in 1992. Early years Bowman was born in Hollywood, California. In his childhood, he appeared in commercials and two episodes of the TV series ''Little House on the Prairie''. Lloyd Eisler
Lloyd Edgar Eisler, MSM, (born April 28, 1963) is a former Canadian pairs skater. With partner Isabelle Brasseur, he is the 1992 and 1994 Olympic bronze medallist and the 1993 World Champion. Early partnerships and success Eisler first competed with Lori Baier. They won three consecutive Canadian Championship silver medals from 1980-1982 and competed at the 1982 World Figure Skating Championships, finishing in ninth place. He competed with Katherina Matousek at the 1984 Winter Olympics, in which they finished in eighth place. Isabelle Brasseur, (born July 28, 1970) is a Canadian former competitive pair skater. With her partner, Lloyd Eisler, she won two Olympic medals and the 1993 World Championships. Personal life Brasseur was born on July 28, 1970, in Kingsbury, Quebec. She married the American former pairs skater Rocky Marval (Marvaldi) on August 10, 1996. Their daughter, Gabriella Marvaldi, was born on November 1, 2000, in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. Brasseur has vasodepressor syncope, causing her heart to stop for 31 seconds shortly before Gabriella's birth. René Novotný
René Novotný (born 10 June 1963) is a Czech former competitive pair skater. With Radka Kovaříková, he is the 1995 World champion and 1995 European silver medalist. Personal life Novotný was born on 10 June 1963 in Brno. He was married to Radka Kovaříková from 1996 to 2010. His second wife is named Soňa. Skating career until 1988 Novotný skated with Ingrid Ženatá from the late 1970s until 1981. Their partnership ended because she had spinal problems.
