1991–92 DFB-Pokal
The 1991–92 DFB-Pokal was the 49th season of the annual German football cup competition. After the German reunification in 1990 the football association of eastern Germany, Nordostdeutscher Fußballverband, joined the German Football Association (DFB) on 21 November 1990. Football clubs from eastern Germany thus participated for the first time in the DFB-Pokal. 87 teams competed in the final tournament, which had thus to be extended to seven rounds. It began on 1 August 1991 and ended on 23 May 1992. As in the year before both semi-finals were draws after 120 minutes. Both games therefore were decided by a penalty shootout as the German Football Association had decided not to hold replays any more. Eventually the final was decided by a penalty shootout, too. Sportverein Werder Bremen von 1899 e. V. (), commonly known as Werder Bremen (), Werder or simply Bremen, is a German professional sports club based in Bremen, Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. SV Stahl Thale is a German football club from Thale, Saxony-Anhalt. In 2013 the club had 1,012 members. History From the Kreisklasse to the Oberliga and East German cup winners SV Stahl Thale, then known as BSG EHW Thale, started playing in the Kreisklasse Quedlinburg in 1946, won the Bezirksklasse West in the 1948–49 season and achieved promotion to the DDR-Oberliga in 1950 after a 3–1 final win against BSG Hydrierwerk Zeitz and reaching third place in the promotion play-off round. Fußball Club Erzgebirge Aue e.V., commonly known as simply FC Erzgebirge Aue or Erzgebirge Aue (), is a German football club based in Aue-Bad Schlema, Saxony. FV Preussen Eberswalde is a German association football club from Eberswalde, Brandenberg northeast of Berlin. Greifswalder Sport Club was a German football club from Greifswald, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was active from 1926 to 1945, and 1990 to 2003. History Founded on 3 January 1926, the club played in the state football system before World War II. It achieved promotion to the Gauliga Pommern, the top flight, in 1937. After the war, all private sports clubs were shut down by the Soviet occupation in East Germany; the city was represented by state team BSG Einheit Greifswald (1946–1968) and nuclear plant team BSG KKW Greifswald (1968–1990). Following German reunification, the club was revived on 21 June 1990, entering the NOFV-Oberliga in 1991. Hoyerswerdaer FC is an association football club from Hoyerswerda, Saxony, Germany. The club was founded on 15 January 1956 in East Germany. Under the name BSG Aktivist Schwarze Pumpe, it reached as high as the DDR-Liga, the second tier in East Germany, where it played in the ultimate (1990–91) season of the DDR-Liga. Following the reunification of Germany, the club changed its name to FSV Hoyerswerda and later FC Lausitz Hoyerswerda. The club colours were yellow and black.
