1991 Soviet First League
Soviet First League 1991 was the last season of the Soviet First League. With the collapse of the Soviet Union the football structure was reformed. All of its participants have entered the Top Divisions of the republics of their origin, except of ''Dinamo Sukhumi'' that because of the 1992-93 War in Abkhazia was dissolved. Due to the 1991 Soviet coup d'état attempt, a process of dissolution of the Soviet Union accelerated as well as a process of decommunization in former union republics. Number of cities changed their names returning to their original names. Soviet First League
The Soviet First League in football (russian: Первая лига СССР по футболу) was the second highest division of Soviet football,Evgeni Kazakov. While the second tier competitions in football among "teams of masters" (an official term for the Soviet professional clubs) existed since 1936, the First League has been officially formed in 1971 out of the Class A First Group. FC Tekstilshchik Kamyshin
FC Tekstilshchik Kamyshin (Russian: Футбольный клуб «Текстильщик» Камышин; Futbol'niy Klub "Tekstilshchik" Kamyshin) is a Russian football club based in Kamyshin, Volgograd Oblast. In the 1990s the club spent five seasons in the Russian Top Division and played in the UEFA Cup. History Tekstilshchik played in the Soviet Second League since 1988 and were promoted to the First League after the 1990 season. After finishing 11th in 1991 they were entitled to enter the Russian Top Division formed after the dissolution of the USSR. In 1993 Tekstilshchik finished fourth in the league, achieving the best result in the club's history. In 1996–1997 the club suffered two consecutive relegations (17th in Top Division in 1996, 19th in First Division in 1997). They were then excluded from the Second Division Volga Zone midway through the 1998 season for not paying their participation fee, thereby dropping into the fourth-level KFK (Amateur) League. FC Dinamo Sokhumi ( ka, სკ სოხუმის დინამო) is a Georgian association football club from Sokhumi, Georgia, temporarily based in Tbilisi. FC Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod was a Russian football club based in Nizhny Novgorod. They spent eight seasons in the Russian Premier League. History Early years The team of the railway workers was founded in Nizhny Novgorod in 1916. 1990 Baltic League (russian: Чемпионат Прибалтики по футболу 1990) was an international football competition organized in 1990 between three Baltic states with the ongoing dissolution of the Soviet Union. The league consisting of 18 clubs from the Lithuania SSR, Estonian SSR, the Latvian SSR and a special invitee FC Progress Cherniakhovsk from Kaliningrad Oblast. For Lithuanian teams the league also served as a preliminary (first stage) tournament for the first post-Soviet Lithuanian football championship.
