1989 Ladies European Tour
The 1989 Ladies European Tour was a series of golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world which took place in 1989. The tournaments were sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). Tournaments The table below shows the 1989 schedule. Marie-Laure Taya
Marie-Laure de Lorenzi (born 21 January 1961, in Biarritz) is a French professional golfer. She is also known by her married name Marie-Laure Taya, and competed using that name until midway through 1989 when she reverted to her maiden name. De Lorenzi played for her country in the European Lady Junior's Team Championship, for players up to the age of 21, from she was 14 years old in 1975 until 1982 and was on the winning team in 1979. She also won individually in 1981. De Lorenzi joined the Ladies European Tour in 1987 and is now a life member of the tour, having accumulated 19 tournament victories on it. She played for Europe in the first Solheim Cup, which took place in 1990, and was also a member of the European team in 1996 and 1998. She was assistant captain of the European Solheim Cup team in 2007. She retired from tournament golf in 2004. Dennise Hutton
Dennise Hutton (born 1960) is an Australian professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. Career Hutton was introduced to golf at age 11 by her father who was greenkeeper/caretaker of the Glen Innes Golf Club in New England, New South Wales. She had success as an amateur and reached the final of the 1980 Australian Women's Amateur. Playing internationally for Australia, she won the 1981 Tasman Cup and the 1982 Queen Sirikit Cup in Sri Lanka with the national team. Hutton turned professional in 1986 and won the 1986 and 1987 Australian LPGA Championships before starting to play on the Ladies European Tour in 1987. She was runner-up at the 1988 Bloor Homes Eastleigh Classic, a stroke behind compatriot Corinne Dibnah. In 1989, she was runner-up at the BMW Ladies Classic in West Germany before winning the Woolmark Ladies Match Play Championship and AGF Biarritz Ladies Open back-to-back in August. Melissa McNamara
Melissa McNamara Luellen (born May 25, 1966) is the head women's golf coach for Auburn University, and a former American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour. Career McNamara was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She played college golf at the University of Tulsa where her mother, Dale, was the head coach and was a member of the Chi Omega fraternity. She helped her team win the 1988 NCAA Women's Division I Championship and she won the individual title. These titles were later vacated by the NCAA due to rules violations by the track and field team. McNamara turned professional in 1988 and played on the Futures Tour and Ladies European Tour in 1988 and 1989. She joined the LPGA Tour in 1990. She won once on the LPGA Tour in 1991. After retiring from tournament golf, McNamara became head coach of the University of Tulsa's women's golf team, replacing her mother. Deborah Ann Dowling (26 July 1962 – 18 January 2019) was an English professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. Career Dowling represented England at the 1979 Girls Home Internationals. She turned professional and joined the Ladies European Tour (LET) in 1981 and won six times, at the 1983 Melcade International Tournament and the Ladies Jersey Open, the 1985 Portuguese Ladies Open, the 1986 Laing Ladies Classic and the 1986 and the 1989 Eastleigh Classic. She also won the 1989 Thailand Open and the 1996 Singapore Open on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour. In 1985 and 1986, she finished fifth on the LET Order of Merit. Bloor Homes Eastleigh Classic
The Bloor Homes Eastleigh Classic was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour. It was first played in 1984 and held annually until 1991. The tournament was played on the par–65 (34–31) municipal course Fleming Park GC, Eastleigh, Hampshire, England, which closed permanently in 2008. Jane Connachan recorded a 58 in the first round and Dale Reid recorded a 58 in the final round of the 1991 tournament, Ladies European Tour records as lowest rounds, as is Dale Reid's 1991 and Trish Johnson's 1990 72–hole raw score of 249. Laurette Maritz
Laurette Maritz (born 13 January 1964) is a South African professional golfer. She won three titles on the Ladies European Tour between 1988 and 1990, and was LET Rookie of the Year in 1988. Early life and amateur career Maritz grew up in Johannesburg and started playing golf when she was 11. Consumed by the sport, she quit high school after the 11th grade. Playing on the South African National Team, she won tournaments in Europe, and she was thinking about turning professional. After meeting LPGA Tour player Sally Little in 1983 she accepted a golf scholarship to United States International University in San Diego, where she earned All-American honors four times and a BA in Physical Education. Anna Iliana Maria Gabriella Oxenstierna (born 13 June 1963) is a former Swedish professional golfer. She played on the Ladies European Tour and won the 1989 TEC Players Championship. Early life Born into an athletic and golfing family, her father Thure Gabriel Oxenstierna is the architect of Roslagen Golf Club where her brother Alexander later were general manager. Her grandfather Johan Gabriel Oxenstierna won gold in modern pentathlon at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Kitrina Douglas (born 6 September 1960) is an English ex- professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. Douglas won the British Ladies Amateur in 1982 and played in the 1982 Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup team.
