1987 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1987 took place 11–21 February 1987 in Oberstdorf, West Germany. Following the domination of the skating technique at the previous championships, the International Ski Federation (FIS) introduced separate cross-country skiing races in the classical technique and the freestyle technique at these championships. For the only time (besides the 1988 Winter Olympics), the relays consisted of four freestyle legs. Oberstdorf
Oberstdorf ( Low Alemannic: ''Oberschdorf'') is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. It is the southernmost settlement in Germany and one of its highest towns. At the center of Oberstdorf is a church whose tall spire serves as a landmark for navigating around town. The summits of the Nebelhorn and Fellhorn provide dramatic panoramic views of the alps. The Nebelhorn can be reached with a big cable car. Visitors can ride a unique diagonal elevator to the top of the Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze. Oleksandr Batyuk
Oleksandr Mykhailovych Batyuk ( uk, Олекса́ндр Миха́йлович Батю́к; born 14 January 1960) is a former Soviet cross-country skier who competed in the 1980s, training at Dynamo in Chernihiv. He won a silver in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. He is a member of the Ski Federation of Ukraine and the only Olympian of the federation who received medal at Olympics.. Ski Federation of Ukraine Batyuk also won two medals in the 4 × 10 km relay at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a gold in 1982 (tied with Norway) and a silver in 1987. Larisa Lazutina
Larisa Yevgenyevna Lazutina (russian: Лариса Евгеньевна Лазутина; née Ptitsyna, born 1 June 1965) is a Russian former professional cross-country skier. Career Lazutina was awarded the Holmenkollen medal in 1998 (shared with Fred Børre Lundberg, Alexey Prokurorov, and Harri Kirvesniemi). In the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, she won five medals: three gold, one silver and one bronze medal. She was the most successful athlete at the 1998 Winter Olympics. After the Olympics, Boris Yeltsin awarded her the title Hero of the Russian Federation. Lazutina earned several medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Brit Pettersen Tofte (born 24 November 1961) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier who competed during the 1980s. Pettersen earned one gold and two bronzes at two Winter Olympic Games. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, she won one gold (4 × 5 km relay - 1982), one silver (20 km - 1985), and two bronzes (5 km - 1982, 10 km - 1987). Anne Jahren (born 20 June 1963) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier who competed from 1982 to 1990. She won a complete set of medals at the Winter Olympics with a gold in the 4 × 5 km relay (1984), a silver in the 4 × 5 km relay (1988), and a bronze in the 20 km (1984). Jahren also won four medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, including one gold (10 km: 1987), two silvers (4 × 5 km relay: 1985, 1987), and one bronze (4 × 5 km relay: 1989). Marjo Tuulevi Matikainen-Kallström (born 3 February 1965 in Lohja) is a politician and former Finnish cross-country skier. Politics Matikainen-Kallström represents the National Coalition Party (Kokoomus) in Finland. Vegard Ulvang
Vegard Ulvang (born 10 October 1963, in Kirkenes) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who won three Olympic gold medals, two silver, and one bronze. He has retired from international and Olympic competition. At the opening ceremony of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games, he took the ceremonial Olympic Oath on part of all the athletes.
