The 14th Moscow International Film Festival was held from 28 June to 12 July 1985. The Golden Prizes were awarded to the Soviet film '' Come and See'' directed by Elem Klimov, the American film ''A Soldier's Story'' directed by Norman Jewison and the Greek film ''The Descent of the Nine'' directed by Christos Siopahas. Kōhei Oguri
is a Japanese film director and screenwriter. Career Born in Gunma, Oguri first became a freelance assistant director after graduating from Waseda University. He made his directorial debut in 1981 with '' Muddy River'', which earned him both a Japan Academy Prize for Director of the Year and a citation in the Directors Guild of Japan New Directors Award. ''Muddy River'' was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won the Silver Prize at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1985 he was a member of the jury at the 14th Moscow International Film Festival. His film ''The Sting of Death'' won the Grand Prize of the Jury at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. Jakob Frímann Magnússon
Jakob Frímann Magnússon (born 4 May 1953) is a Danish-born Icelandic composer, keyboard player, film director and producer. In Iceland he is best known as the keyboardist and one of the founders of the multiartistic band Stuðmenn, with which he has so far produced 16 albums as of 2017. He has also directed, produced and starred in several films, and released several solo albums with a number of famous jazz musicians from the United States. For a period of the 1990s he was the cultural attaché of the Icelandic embassy in London. Since 2002, aside from playing in Stuðmenn and recording new albums, Jakob Frímann is the co-owner and manager of the advertisement agency Bankastræti in Reykjavík. Jakob studied music in California between 1977 and 1980. Pat Murphy (director)
Pat Murphy (born 1951) is an Irish feminist filmmaker and lecturer, the director of Maeve (1982), Anne Devlin (1984) and Nora (2000). Studies Born in Dublin, Murphy graduated from the Ulster College of Art and Design, followed by a BA in fine art at Hornsey College of Art and an MA in film and television from the Royal College of Art in London where she studied under feminist theorist Laura Mulvey. Hoping to train as a cinematographer, in 1977 she was the first European to achieve a scholarship year at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, influencing her decision to become a director. She completed a short film, Rituals of Memory, before returning to Ireland to work on her first feature film.
