1976 Federation Cup
The 1976 Federation Cup was the 14th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. For the first time, enough teams entered to necessitate Pre-Qualifying rounds. The tiebreaker also was used for the first time. The tournament was held at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, from 22–29 August. The United States defeated Australia in the final, in what was the sixth final between United States and Australia. Qualifying round Eight nations played off in July for a place in the main draw. Luxembourg, Mexico, Philippines, and Switzerland advanced to Main Draw. The 1975 Federation Cup was the 13th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. 31 nations participated in the tournament, which was held at the Aixoise C.C., Aix-en-Provence, France, from 5–11 May. Czechoslovakia defeated Australia in the final, giving Czechoslovakia their first title. Paulina Peled (born 20 April 1950) is an Israeli former professional tennis player. She was known as Paulina Peisachov before marriage. Biography Born in Lithuania, Peled moved to Israel at the age of 16. She competed at the 1969 Maccabiah Games for Israel in women's singles. Peled studied in the United States in the early 1970s at Arizona State University, where she also played college tennis. Returning to Israel, she became the first Israeli woman to win Israel's International Tennis Championship for two decades when she claimed the title in 1974. Rosemary "Rosie" Casals (born September 16, 1948) is an American former professional tennis player. Casals earned her reputation as a rebel in the tennis world when she began competing in the early 1960s. ''Judita'' (Judith) is one of the most important Croatian literary works, an epic poem written by the "father of Croatian literature" Marko Marulić in 1501.
