The Kuwait Premier League (), known as STC Premier League due to sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Kuwait football pyramid system. Formed in 1961, Al-Arabi, Qadsia and Kuwait both hold the best record in the competition, having won 17 times. History The Kuwaiti league officially began in the 1961/62 season, after playing unofficially for eight years (played with group of clubs: "Ahli - Al Jazeera - Arabism - Gulf - Solidarity - Al-Qubali, Al-Nahda, Al-Sharqai, Al-Merqab, Al-Mawalim and Al-Taawon). Al-Arabi Sporting Club ( ar, النادي العربي الرياضي) is a Kuwaiti sports club club based in Mansuriya, Kuwait City. The most notable section is football team in the Kuwait Premier League. Al-Arabi SC was named ''Al-ʿUrūba'' ( ar, العُروبَة, lit=The Arabism) at the beginning of 1953, and changed to Al-Arabi SC (The Arabian) in 1960. As winners of the Kuwait Emir Cup in 2008, Al-Arabi SC was the first Kuwaiti team to compete in the AFC Cup. Abdulrahman Al-Dawla
Abdulrahman Al-Dawla Al-Mutawa Al-Qenaei ( ar, عبد الرحمن الدولة المطوع القناعي; born 1941 in Kuwait City) is a former Kuwaiti footballer. He played from 1961 until 1972, and scored 105 goals for his team in the league competition. He was the top scorer in the Kuwait Premier League in 1962–63, 1964–65, 1965–66 and 1966–67. 1964–65 Kuwaiti Premier League was the 4th season of the First League Division. Overview In the fourth season, the school teams, which are Thanwit Al-Shoike ''( en, Al-Shuwaikh High School)'', Al-Kalia Al-Saneia ''( en, The Industrial College)'' and Al-Shorta ''( en, The Police)'', were excluded from participating in the league and witnessed the participation of three new clubs, namely Al-Salmiya, Al-Fahaheel and Al-Shabab. Kuwait SC managed to end Al-Arabi's monopoly on the league championship to achieve its first title in its history after topping the league table without any defeat with eighteen points, scoring 44 goals and conceding 9 goals.
