1961–62 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup
The fourth Inter-Cities Fairs Cup was played over the 1961–62 season. There were five representative teams for some major European cities, three of which lost out in the first round. The final was the first European final to be contested between two clubs from the same country, namely Spain. Bobby Blackwood
Robert Rankin Blackwood (20 August 1934 – 25 June 1997) was a Scottish footballer, who played as a wing half in the English Football League and the Scottish Football League Career Born in Edinburgh, Blackwood began his career in Scottish non-league football for junior clubs including Milton House Amateurs, Merchiston Thistle and Kelty Rangers. He then made the move to the Scottish Football League to play for Hearts. He made 136 league appearances scoring 37 goals and was part of the successful team that won the Scottish First Division twice and the Scottish League Cup. He moved to English football in 1962 to play for Suffolk side Ipswich Town, who paid a transfer fee of £12,000. Three years at Town produced 12 goals in 62 appearances. He moved the short distance to Colchester United in 1965, making 105 league appearances. Waldo Machado da Silva (9 September 1934 – 25 February 2019), known simply as Waldo, was a Brazilian footballer who played as a forward. He was best known for his time at Fluminense, where he was the top scorer in the club's history with 319 goals in 403 matches, and Valencia. Club career Waldo was born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. After joining Madureira Esporte Clube's youth setup in the early 1950s, he made his debut as a senior in 1953. On 11 April 1954, Waldo signed for Fluminense FC, and was the top goalscorer of all tournaments which his team won. Stævnet ( da, the event or ''the meeting'') or Copenhagen XI were a Danish association football representative team which had its prime before 1970, however it was active until 1994. Stævnet participated in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, the precursor of UEFA Cup, in 1955–58, 1958–60, 1961–62, 1962–63 and 1963–64. The Copenhagen XI only competed in the above mentioned editions of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cups. All other tournaments involving a Copenhagen team were contested by individual clubs from Copenhagen.
