The 1945 Albanian National Championship was the eighth season of the Albanian National Championship, the top professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1930. Overview It was contested by 12 teams, and Vllaznia won the championship. Kategoria Superiore
The Kategoria Superiore, officially known as Abissnet Superiore for sponsorship reasons, is a professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Albanian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. It is contested by 10 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Kategoria e Parë. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 36 matches each (playing each team in the league four times, twice at home and twice away). The competition was founded in 1930 as the Albanian National Championship during the reign of King Zog, shortly after the creation of the Albanian Football Association. Since 1930, 45 clubs have competed in recognised competitions, while only nine clubs have won the title: Tirana (26), Dinamo Tirana (18), Partizani (16), Vllaznia (9), Skënderbeu (8), Elbasani (2), Teuta (2), Flamurtari (1), and Kukësi (1). KF Apolonia Fier
KF Apolonia is an Albanian football club based in Fier. The club was founded on 17 June 1925 and took its name from the nearby ruins of the ancient city of Apollonia. The club currently compete in the Kategoria e Parë and they play their home games at the Loni Papuçiu Stadium. History Early history During the early 1920s, sports activities began being organised in the city of Fier, much like other cities in Albania at the time. Students from the region returning from their studies in larger Albanian cities and abroad had learned about football, which they then played back in Fier, which soon became so popular that almost every neighbourhood in the city had children and adults alike playing football. Shkodër
Shkodër ( , ; sq-definite, Shkodra) is the fifth-most-populous city of the Republic of Albania and the seat of Shkodër County and Shkodër Municipality. The city sprawls across the Plain of Mbishkodra between the southern part of Lake Shkodër and the foothills of the Albanian Alps on the banks of Buna, Drin and Kir. Besim Fagu
Besim Fagu (10 March 1925 – 1 January 1999) was an Albanian football player who played for 17 Nentori Tiranë and Partizani Tirana where he won seven National Championships. He was also a member of the Albania national team between 1946 and 1953, where he earned 11 caps and also won the 1946 Balkan Cup. International career He made his debut for Albania in an October 1946 Balkan Cup match against Bulgaria and earned a total of 11 caps, scoring no goals. His final international was a May 1958 friendly match against East Germany. Personal life Legacy On 10 March 2015, on the 90th anniversary of his birthdate, he was awarded with a medal of gratitude by the Ministry of Defence at an event organised to commemorate the player. Tiranë
Tirana ( , ; aln, Tirona) is the capital and largest city of Albania. It is located in the centre of the country, enclosed by mountains and hills with Dajti rising to the east and a slight valley to the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. Vasif Biçaku
Vasif Biçaku (2 March 1922) was an Albanian footballer who played for Sportklub Tiranë and Apolonia Fier as well as the Albania national team. He is also known for being part of the 1946 Albania vs Yugoslavia football match, which was Albania's first official match. In total, he earned 18 caps for the national team between 1946 and 1952. Club career He was born in Tiranë into a noble family from Elbasan and began his football career in the late 1930s with Sportklub Tiranë. He moved to Partizani Tirana in 1948 where he won two National Championships. Towards the end of his playing career he moved to Apolonia Fier and played in the Albanian second tier until his retirement in the mid 1950s. International career He made his debut for Albania in an August 1946 friendly match against Montenegro and earned a total of 17 caps, scoring 1 goal. Flamurtari
Flamurtari FC is a professional football club based in Vlorë, Albania. The club plays in the Kategoria e Parë, which is the second tier of football in the country. Founded in 1923, the club is one of the oldest in Albania, and it is also one of the most successful clubs, having won one Albanian Superliga title in 1991 four Albanian Cups and two Albanian Supercups. Flamurtari is also known for their European runs in the 1980s, where they famously reached the last sixteen in the 1987–88 UEFA Cup, where they beat Spanish giants Barcelona in Vlorë but lost on aggregate.
