10 Admiral Grove
10 Admiral Grove, a property in Toxteth, Liverpool, England, is the house in which Ringo Starr lived for twenty years before he rose to fame with the Beatles. Starr's infant school, St. Silas Primary School, on Pengwern Street, was yards away from his front door. He was a sickly child and, due to his many absences from school, was taught to read and write at home. A severe bout of peritonitis led him to spend much of his seventh year at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital. When Starr was 13, his mother Elsie married a London, Londoner, Harry Graves. The Starkeys' local pub, ''The Empress'', where Elsie was a barmaid, adjoins Admiral Grove. The British shilling, abbreviated "1/-", was a unit of currency and a denomination of sterling coinage worth of one pound, or twelve pence. It was first minted in the reign of Henry VII as the testoon, and became known as the shilling, from the Old English , sometime in the mid-16th century. It circulated until 1990. John Winston Ono Lennon (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 19408 December 1980) was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist who achieved worldwide fame as founder, co-songwriter, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. "Liverpool 8" is a song by Ringo Starr and is the lead track on his 2008 Liverpool 8, album of the same name. The song was also released in early December 2007 as a Music download, download-single (music), single. It was later released in physical formats (gramophone record, 7" single and CD single) on 7 January 2008, a week before the release of the album. The A-side and B-side, B-side for the 7" is the third track from the album, "For Love". Despite the physical single being available for only 99 pence in the UK, it only reached number 99 there. Gateacre
Gateacre () is a suburb of Liverpool, England, about from the city centre. It is bordered by Childwall, Woolton and Belle Vale. The area is noted for its Tudor Revival architecture and contains over 100 listed buildings within a quarter-mile radius of the village centre, making it one of the most important historic areas in the city. Gateacre can trace its roots back to at least the 12th century, although it was not until the mid-seventeenth century that the name was first used to refer to the area. The Beatles Anthology (book)
''The Beatles Anthology'' is a book published in October 2000 as part of ''The Beatles Anthology'' film project. It includes interviews with all four band members, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, together with others involved, most notably producer George Martin, press officer Derek Taylor and roadie and head of Apple Corps, Neil Aspinall, who oversaw the project. The book, which is billed as the only autobiography of the Beatles, also features more than 1,200 rare photos and colour illustrations. Many of the interviews quoted are from those featured in the documentary films, and additional interviews were conducted specifically for the book.
